Landmark Selects Players of the Week
MADISON, N.J. - A total of nine student-athletes have been honored for their play this past week with selections as Landmark Players of the Week. The Landmark Player of the Week selections are made by the Landmark Conference office.
Men's Cross Country:
David Haklar helped Susquehanna win the Mansfield Flatland
Invitational with a third-place overall finish. He was third of 51
runners on the day and ran a time of 26:32.04 on a course that was
slightly longer than the 8K distance, and the time is still one of
the fastest 8K times in the conference this season.
Women's Cross Country:
In her second meet of the year Susquehanna’s Alycia Woodruff
bested the 52-runner field to place first at the Mansfield Flatland
Invitational. She ran the fastest 5K time of her career and the
third-fasted 5K in Landmark history (on a course that was slightly
longer than 5,000-meters) by posting a mark of 19:16.33. She was
more than 17 seconds ahead of the runner up.
Field Hockey
Offensive Player of the Week:
Kati Eggert enjoyed another prolific offensive week to help the
Rangers run their win streak to four matches with three wins. She
produced her third hat-trick of the season in a win over Vassar,
finding the back of the cage four times total in the 5-0 win.
Earlier in the week she struck for a pair of goals and contributed
her first assist of the year in a 4-0 win over Muhlenberg. She had
13 points over the three matches.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Krystyanna Ramsdell maintained her perfect record with a pair of
strong efforts in goal for Catholic this past week. She made six
saves and conceded just one goal in helping the Cardinals claim a
2-1 win over 8th-ranked Rowan to cap the week, this came after she
posted her fifth shutout of the year with a 1-0 win over preseason
20th-ranked Gettysburg. She stopped three shots to claim the
shutout over the Bullets.
Men's Soccer:
Offensive Player of the Week:
Hugh Riley helped Moravian snap a losing skid and post a 1-1 record
with strong offensive play. He opened the scoring in the
team’s victory, netting the first goal in Moravian’s
3-1 win over Lebanon Valley. He also had a hand in both of
Moravian’s goals in a 5-2 set-back to Muhlenberg, scoring
once and assisting on the other. He finished with five points from
two matches for the week.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Kurt Olsen was a big defensive contributor while also chipping in
offensively in a 2-0 week for USMMA. He assisted on the only goal
of the match as the Mariners bested Farmingdale State 1-0, and then
was a strong defensive presence as the team opened Landmark play
with another shutout blanking Juniata 3-0. He helped the USMMA
defense limit its opponents to just 11 shots over the two matches
in earning its third and fourth shutouts of the season.
Women's Soccer:
Offensive Player of the Week:
Sisley Pumilia provided nearly all the offense as Goucher claimed
its first win of the season in its only action last week. The
senior scored three of her team’s four goals as the Gophers
downed Notre Dame (Md.) 4-1. It was the fifth time in her career
she’s scored three or more goals in a match and the three
tallies moved her into second place in Goucher history in career
goals scored with 35.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Rachel Norbuts helped Susquehanna even its record at 3-3 with two
strong performances in goal this past week. She notched a shutout
in the first contest, making six saves in a 1-0 win over Neumann.
She then stopped another six shots and allowed only one goal in 110
minutes of action as the Crusaders prevailed over Lebanon Valley
2-1 in double overtime. She notched a 0.45 goals against average
for the week.
Volleyball:
Senior Lindsey Jankiewicz had four strong all-around matches for
Susquehanna at the DePauw Invitational. She earned All-Tournament
Team honors as she averaged 4.23 points per set as the Crusaders
went 2-2 at the event with both losses to nationally-ranked teams.
She reached double figures in kills in three of the four matches
while hitting .290 and adding 10 digs and 10 service aces. She
pounded out a 20 kills in a win over DePauw and added 14 kills, two
aces and two solo blocks in topping Marietta.
