Landmark Honors Eight Players of the Week

MADISON, N.J. - With one winter sport concluding its regular season and two others heading for the finish line, a total of eight Landmark student-athletes have been chosen as Landmark Players of the Week. The Landmark Player of the Week selections are made by the Landmark Conference office.
Men's Basketball
Catholic sophomore Jason Banzhaf turned in two productive games as
the Cardinals split two Landmark contests. He scored a season-high
29 points and grabbed six rebounds in a tight loss to USMMA, then
came back to scored 26 points and again grab six boards in a win
over Drew. He shot 67-percent from the field, 50-percent from
three-point range and 84-percent from the foul line over the two
games, to average 27.5 points per contest.
Women's Basketball:
Drew’s Jessica Del Vecchio helped the Rangers earn
a split of two Landmark road games with a pair of solid
performances. She scored 22 points as the team downed Goucher, then
followed it up with a 19-point effort in a set-back to Catholic.
She shot a stellar 71-percent from the field over the two games,
while also pulling in eight rebounds and adding two assists and a
steal.
Men's Field:
Susquehanna sophomore Bobby Eppleman placed second in a
field of 11 competitors at the Ursinus Pentathlon. He totaled 2,980
points at the competition, just 55 points behind the winner. He won
the high jump portion of the event with a 1.79 meters.
Women's Field:
Juniata senior Kelsey Buffenmyer won a pair of field
events at the Dickinson DuCharme Invitational. She placed first in
the high jump with a mark of 4’ 11 3/4” and then also
won the long jump with a best leap of 16’ 3 1/4”.
Men's Swimming & Diving:
Scranton’s Joseph Clifford helped the Royals wrap up the
regular season with a dual-meet win over Landmark opponent Drew.
Clifford won both the 100 freestyle (50.97) and the 200 freestyle
(1:51.64) to help give the Royals the win. The wins were his fourth
and fifth event wins in dual-meet action this season.
Women's Swimming & Diving:
Scranton freshman Carolyn Gillespie enjoyed a record-breaking week
for the Royal swim team in a pair of wins. In a season-ending
dual-meet win over Drew, she broke a school record that was set in
1987 when she won the 50 freestyle in a time of 25.13, the fastest
time in the conference this season. She also won the 100 free in a
time of 1:00.85. Earlier in the week she won the 50 free in a
dual-meet win over Elizabethtown.
Men's Track:
Catholic’s Andrew Smith won two events to help the
Cardinals place second among six teams at the Lebanon Valley
Invitational. He was first across the line in the mile run with a
time of 4:56.80 and then also earned a win in the 3,000 with a time
of 9:48.00.
Women's Track:
Competing against Division I, II and III athletes
Susquehanna’s Jamie Eggleton turned in two strong
performances at the Bucknell Open and Multi. She was second among
Division III competitors, and eighth overall in the 200, running a
Landmark best time of 26.68 in the preliminaries. She also added a
10th-place finish in the 400 and was the first DIII runner across
the line with a time of 1:02.12, which is the second-fastest in the
conference.
