Landmark Sending 10 Athletes To NCAA Track Championships

MADISON, N.J. – The first season of competition in the Landmark Conference will conclude this weekend as 10 Landmark student-athletes compete at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Oskosh Wisconsin. The meet begins Thursday May 22 and will conclude Saturday May 24. The 10 Landmark athletes will compete in 10 different events.

Moravian College has a total of eight athletes, six females and two males, while Juniata College and Susquehanna University each have one athlete competing in the championships. All 10 will be trying to earn All-America recognition by placing in the top-eight in an individual event, while also trying to earn points for the team standings.

Moravian senior Ozzie Brown has qualified for three events at the meet, including the 10-event decathlon. Brown will try and match his success from the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships when he won the long jump competition. At the Outdoor Championships Brown will also be competing in the long jump, as well as the 110-meter hurdles. His teammate, senior Nathaniel Tussey will also be running in the 110-meter hurdles and will also take part in the 400-meter hurdles.

Juniata senior Matthew Booth qualified to also compete in the long jump, while Susquehanna senior Mike Marr will be taking part in the high jump.

The women’s participants all come from Moravian as the Greyhounds have six athletes competing in five different events. Sophomores Jessica Posimo and Symonne Scott will each be competing in two events. Posimo qualified in the 100-meter hurdles and Scott is jumping in the long jump. The pair will then join sophomore Rachel Beck and freshman Sydni Wisniewski in the 4x100 relay. Freshman Mary King has qualified for the championships in her first season as she will compete in the javelin and sophomore Anna Heim will be taking part in the pole vault competition.
