Two More Landmark Athletes Earn All-America Honors At NCAA Championships
Moravian College senior Anna Heim won the pole vault competition and set a new NCAA Indoor Championship record while Susquehanna University senior Paul Thistle placed eighth in the mile as both student-athletes earned All-America honors on the final day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Two Landmark Athletes Earn All-America Honors On Day One Of NCAA Championships
The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team had two competitors on the first day of the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships being hosted by DePauw (IN) University. Senior Symonne Scott and freshman Micah Leonard both competed in the long jump, and both competitors earned All-America honors with top eight finishes.

Women's Tennis Teams Ready To Challenge For Conference Title
Over the first two seasons of Landmark womens tennis competition, several teams have challenged the team from Moravian College, but have come up short with the Greyhounds capturing each Landmark title. With the 2010 champion earning an NCAA Tournament berth for the first time, this season should see even tougher battles as teams vie for the right to be the first Landmark team to reach the NCAA Tournament.

Landmark Men's Tennis Teams Ready To Hit The Courts In 2010
The Drew University mens tennis team brought a streak of conference championships with it to the Landmark, and that streak has grown in the first two years of Landmark play. Several teams took shots at the Rangers last season, and with the 2010 season now underway the race the battle to try and end Drews reign atop the standings has begun.

Softball Teams Set For Another Competitive Season Of Landmark Play
After claiming the first Landmark Championship without dropping a game, Moravian College found the road to its second title a tad tougher as the Greyhounds dropped one game during the season and were pushed to extra innings twice in the potseason. With both the Greyhounds and several of the top teams welcoming back large numbers of starters, the race for the 2010 Landmark Championship and the NCAA automatic berth figures to once again be very tight.

Three Landmark Conference women's basketball players have been named as finalists for the 2010 State Farm Coaches All-America Team as voted by the members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The 40 finalists are now in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches All-America Team.

The first two seasons of Landmark Conference baseball followed a similar pattern. One or two teams separated themselves from the pack during the regular season, only to see The Catholic University of America enter the double-elimination Landmark postseason as the fourth seed and roll to the title. In a season filled with numerous athletic achievements, Zach Ashworth (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West), a junior guard on The University of Scranton men's basketball team, earned the ultimate academic honor. Mariners Top Scranton To Claim Landmark Men's Basketball Title
For the first time in school history the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy mens basketball team are Landmark Conference Champions. On Saturday afternoon, the top-seeded Mariners defeated the second-seeded University of Scranton, 68-54, at Liebertz Gymnasium in Kings Point, N.Y. USMMA grabbed the title from the Royals, who were two-time defending champions.

Moravian Captures First Landmark Women's Basketball Championship
The ninth-ranked and top seeded Moravian College womens basketball team won its first conference title since 1991-92 as the Greyhounds defeated 15th-ranked The University of Scranton, 66-49, Saturday afternoon in the championship game of the 2010 Landmark Conference Tournament in Johnston Hall to earn the Landmark Conference's first-ever automatic berth to the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.

Landmark Honors Fall Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has selected six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective fall sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities. The award is the most exclusive awarded by the Conference with just 20 honorees for each academic year.

Landmark Announces President's All-Sports Cup Fall Standings
For the second time in as many year Susquehanna University has jumped to the top of the Landmark Presidents All Sports Cup standings after the fall sports season. With six of the Landmarks 20 sports having completed their seasons, Susquehanna leads the standings with a score of 7.33. Juniata College sits in second place with 6.67 points while The Catholic University is a narrow .17 points back in third with a score of 6.5. Rounding out the top half of the standings is The University of Scranton with 5.5 points.

Landmark Releases Fall All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced the selection of 32 student-athletes to the 2009 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark fall sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Drew Raises Money For Cancer Research With 5K Run
Drews Student Athlete Advisory Committee raised over $1,000 for the Kyle Noonan Leukemia Fund with the 2009 Ranger Run 5K on Sunday. The SAACs hard work paid off as 60 runners competed in the race through Drews campus and the Daily Record came out to cover the event.

Juniata Field Hockey Collects Third Landmark Title
In the brief history of the Landmark Conference, there has only been one field hockey team that has felt the success of winning the championship. The Juniata College Eagles have been that team, winning the first two championships, and continued the trend Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over Susquehanna University on Winton Hill Field.

Catholic Earns Program's First Men's Soccer Title
The Catholic University men's soccer team (16-3-1) defeated the University of Scranton (12-6-2) to earn the teams first ever Landmark Conference title as well as the first NCAA tournament berth in program history. The Cardinals defeated the Royals, 3-0.

Juniata Volleyball Returning To NCAA Tournament
Juniata College captured its 29th consecutive women's volleyball conference championship with a 3-0 win over Susquehanna University, Saturday night at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center. Set scores for the Eagles were 25-21, 27-25, and 25-12. The win allows Juniata (31-3) to gain entry into the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship through the Landmark Conference's automatic qualifier, after being taken as an at-large selection in the last two seasons.

Scranton Men's Lacrosse Scores One For Cancer Research
The biggest goal The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team scored on Sunday, October 11, at the third annual Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Clinic never showed up on the scoreboard. Instead, the Royals joined 15 other college teams to help raise more than $180,000 for cancer research through an innovative two-day, fall-ball' event held at Ridley High School in Folsom, Pennsylvania.

Cross Country Teams Ready To Kick-Off Championship Season
The 2009 fall Landmark Conference Championship season will get underway Saturday Oct. 31 when Catholic University hosts the 2009 Landmark Cross Country Championships at the United States Soldiers and Airmans Home in Washington, D.C. Womens and mens team champions will be crowned at the meet, while competitors will also vie for individual first-place awards. Competition begins at 10 a.m. with the womens race 6K, with the mens 8K race following at 11 a.m. There will be an awards ceremony at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Landmark Honors Second Semester Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has chosen fourteen student-athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective winter and spring sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities. It is the most exclusive award given out by the conference with just 20 honorees for each academic year.

Moravian Repeats As Landmark President's All Sports Cup Winner
Just as it did when it claimed the inaugural Landmark Presidents All Sports Cup last season Moravian College rode a dominating performance in the spring sports season to the top of the standings to win the 2008-09 Landmark Conference Presidents All Sports Cup. The Greyhounds finished with a score of 7.222, well ahead of the score of 6.719 held by The University of Scranton which placed second. Susquehanna University finished in third place in the standings with a total of 6.538 while Juniata College finished fourth with a mark of 5.985.

Scranton Moves To Top Of President's All-Sports Cup Standings
The University of Scranton Royals have claimed the top spot in the Landmark Presidents All-Sports Cup standings after the completion of the winter season. Twelve of the twenty sports in the Landmark Conference have now concluded leaving institutions only the spring season to leave their mark on the standings. After claiming three Landmark Conference Championships Scranton has accumulated a score of 7.65 to edge out previous leader Susquehanna Universitys score of 7.38.

The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2009Winter Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. USMMA's Halbach Adds Another National Title
USMMA Sophomore Nicholas Halbach earned his second individual national championship for the 2009 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships by winning the 3-Meter Diving event. With the victory, Halbach was named NCAA Division III Diver of the Year. Diving Coach Kevin Ryan received Diving Coach of the Year Honors for the year.

Landmark Conference Commissioner John A. Reeves has signed a three-year contract extension to remain in his position through July 2012. Reeves became the first, and only, Commissioner in the history of the Division III athletics conference when he was hired in September of 2007.

Scranton Men Claim Landmark Hoops Title In Overtime
Sophomore guard Zach Ashworth (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) etched his name among the all-time legendary performances in University of Scranton men's basketball history Saturday night in the championship game of the Landmark Conference tournament at the Long Center. He connected on 9 of 11 shots from the field to finish with a career-high 26 points as the Royals held off Susquehanna, 80-75 in overtime, to win their second straight Landmark title and 19th overall conference championship in school history.

Scranton Repeats As Landmark Women's Basketball Champions
An unlikely hero emerged for The University of Scranton against Moravian College in the championship game of the Landmark Conference tournament Saturday evening at the Long Center. Sophomore guard Jennifer King (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) came off the bench and scored 11 of her 12 points in the second half as the Lady Royals won their second consecutive Landmark title with a 71-57 victory. She also finished with three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal in 17 minutes of action.

The Landmark Conference has chosen six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective fall sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities.

Susquehanna Leads President's All-Sports Cup Standings After Fall Season
On the strength of claiming three Landmark Conference Championships during the fall, Susquehanna University sits atop the Landmark Presidents All-Sports Cup standings after the completion of the fall sports season. With six of the Landmarks 20 sports having finished their seasons, Susquehanna is atop the standings with a score of 7.67. Juniata College, who was in first place in the fall of the 2007 season sits in second place with 7.00 points. The University of Scranton and The Catholic University of America round out the top half of the standings with 6.08 and 5.92 points respectively.

Wasnetsky Leads Way For Landmark Runners At NCAA
Sophomore Chris Wasnetsky (Dunmore, Pa./Bishop OHara) turned in the best performance of his career at the 2008 NCAA Division III mens cross-country championships Saturday morning. Wasnetsky covered the 8000-meter course in a personal-best time of 25:36.31 to finish 96th in a field of 278 runners. In addition Susquehanna's Paul Thistle was 164th at the meet, and Crusader Alycia Woodruff placed 75th in the women's race.

Drews World Diabetes Day Swim-A-Thon and Gary Hall, Jr. Clinic was a rousing success. The program, created by Drew senior Dan Sorenson and headlined by Halls entertaining and informative clinic, raised nearly $10,000 for diabetes research. Twenty-four student-athletes have been selected to the 2008 All-Landmark Conference Womens Soccer team as voted by the conferences seven head coaches. The All-Landmark Team includes a first and second team with 12 honorees on each team, with the selections being made by position. Olympic Gold Medalist To Take Part In Drew Swim-A-Thon
Gary Hall, Jr., a ten-time Olympic medal-winner, will host a swim clinic in conjunction with Drew Universitys World Diabetes Day Swim-A-Thon on Saturday, November 15, 2008. The event, which begins at 10 AM with a two-hour clinic given by Hall, is followed by the swim-a-thon. All proceeds benefit the Gary Hall, Jr. Foundation for Diabetes, with a portion donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Morristown Memorial Hospital. The event will be held at the Kirby Pool in Drews Simon Forum in Madison, NJ.

Former Juniata College forward Brian Cannon '08 (Fallston, Md./Fallston) returns to the basketball court this week, but his chances of winning aren't great. He's playing for a team whose own website touts the fact it has won just one game, while losing... maybe thousands. Cannon will be playing for the Washington Generals, touring opponent of the Harlem Globetrotters, when the Globetrotters open an international tour on this week in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Drew Names New Men's Basketball Coach
Darryl Keckler, most recently the top assistant at Gettysburg College, has been named Drews Head Coach of Mens Basketball. The announcement was made by Drews new Director of Athletics, Jason Fein, as his first hire at Drew. Keckler had been with the highly successful Bullets program for the past five seasons, including Gettysburgs record breaking 2007-08 trip to the Sweet 16.

Landmark Saddened By Loss of Ged Schweikert
G. Edward "Ged" Schweikert III, died June 15, 2008 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after an eight-year battle with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the immune system. For 28 years, Ged served Susquehanna with distinction and compassion as associate professor of psychology and the university's first and only head swimming coach. He will be deeply missed as a teacher and friend.

Landmark Releases Updated All-Sport Standings
On the strength of three team championships during the winter season The University of Scranton has surged to the top of the Landmark Conference All-Sport Trophy standings through the completion of the winter sports season. The Royals, who were in second place through the fall season, sit at the top of the standings with 7.28 points. Juniata College dropped into the second position with 6.59 points, with Moravian College just percentage points behind at 6.55. Susquehanna University rounds out the top four with 5.95 points.

Landmark Selects Fall Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has chosen six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective fall sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities.

Landmark Announces All-Sport Standings
Following the completion of its first full season of competition the standings for the Landmark Conference All-Sport Trophy are complete. Juniata College sits atop the standings with an edge over the University of Scranton after six fall sports have completed the 2007 season. Juniata accumulated a score of 7.25 after the 2007 fall season, while Scranton sits with a mark of 6.17 in second position. The Catholic University of America and Moravian College sit in third and fourth place respectively with 5.67 and 5.25 points respectively.

Landmark Announces Fall All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2007 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically.

Four Landmark Conference Team Championships will be decided on Saturday as the newly-formed conference completes its first season of competition. The NCAA announced today its support for College Colors Day, scheduled for this Friday, August 31. The Collegiate Licensing Company has officially designated Friday as College Colors Day, which encourages NCAA membership institutions, student-athletes, fans, alumni and students to wear apparel of their favorite college throughout the day on August 31.

Merchant Marine Academy Holds Award Ceremony
Midshipman Frank Dore ( Teaneck , N.J. ), Midshipman Andrea Carey ( Georgetown , Del. ), Head Lacrosse Coach Tom Gill ( Levittown , N.Y. ), Midshipman Eric Vincent ( Trussville , Ala. ) and Midshipman Jess LaValley (Newport , N.C. ) were amongst the many administrators, coaches and midshipman-athletes to be honored at the 2006-07 Varsity Awards Dinner held on June 14 in the Officers Club of Melville Hall. The event celebrated another successful academic year for the Mariners.

Landmark Conference Ready To Begin Competition
More than 18 months after its formation, the Landmark Conference will begin competition in the coming months. The eight-member Division III conference will have official competition and will crown champions beginning in the Fall of 2007.

The University of Scranton, a Catholic and Jesuit university founded in 1888, has joined the Landmark Conference, the NCAA Division III athletic association formed last December by seven like-minded colleges and universities in the Mid-Atlantic states.

John Reeves Named First Landmark Commissioner
College-athletics veteran John A. Reeves has been appointed the first commissioner of the Landmark Conference, a newly formed association of seven NCAA Division III institutions in the mid-Atlantic region. Reeves will begin his service as commissioner on September 1, 2006.

Presidents Announce Formation Of New Athletics Conference
The presidents of eight colleges and universities have announced the formation of a new NCAA Division III athletics conference. The members of the new conference will compete in all sports other than football. The conference, yet to be named, will begin competition in the fall of 2007.
