Spring Athletes Earn A Host Of ECAC Honors
A total of 14 Landmark Conference spring sport student-athletes earned spots on ECAC All-Star Teams. The Landmark placed five recipients on both the baseball and softball teams to go along with three women's lacrosse honorees and one men's lacrosse selection.

Toby Lovecchio, director of athletics at The University of Scranton, has announced the appointment of Bryan Lurie, MS, ATC, as head athletic trainer/assistant athletics director.

Landmark Saddened By Loss of Ged Schweikert
G. Edward "Ged" Schweikert III, died June 15, 2008 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after an eight-year battle with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the immune system. For 28 years, Ged served Susquehanna with distinction and compassion as associate professor of psychology and the university's first and only head swimming coach. He will be deeply missed as a teacher and friend.

Moravian Claims First Landmark President's All-Sports Cup
By a remarkably narrow margin Moravian College finished atop the inaugural Landmark Conference All-Sports standings to earn the first Landmark Conference All-Sports Presidents Cup. The Greyhounds finished with 6.86 points, edging out The University of Scranton which accumulated 6.85 points.

Landmark Announces Spring Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has selected eight student-athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective spring sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the spring sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities.

Moravian Grad Qualifies for US Open
Former Moravian College golfer Brian Bergstol (Upper Mount Bethel, PA/Bangor HS) placed second at a 36-hole sectional qualifier on The Members Course at Four Streams in Beallsville, Maryland on Monday with a three-under par 139 to earn a spot in the 108th U.S. Open to be played at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California beginning on June 12th.

The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2008 Spring Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically.

Landmark Sending 10 Athletes To NCAA Track Championships
The first season of competition in the Landmark Conference will conclude this weekend as 10 Landmark student-athletes compete at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Oskosh Wisconsin. The meet begins Thursday May 22 and will conclude Saturday May 24. The 10 Landmark athletes will compete in 10 different events.

Drew Lacrosse Teams Earn ECAC Bids
The Drew University mens and womens lacrosse teams have each earned bids to the ECAC Metro/South Region Championships. The six-team womens championship will begin Wednesday May 6, while the four-team mens championship will start Friday May 9.

Landmark To Crown Spring Sports Champions
The first season of Landmark Conference competition will conclude with four spring sports competing for Landmark Championships May 3-4. The mens lacrosse, womens lacrosse and softball championships will all be decided Saturday May 3, while the Landmark baseball postseason will conclude on Sunday May 4.

Landmark Releases Updated All-Sport Standings
On the strength of three team championships during the winter season The University of Scranton has surged to the top of the Landmark Conference All-Sport Trophy standings through the completion of the winter sports season. The Royals, who were in second place through the fall season, sit at the top of the standings with 7.28 points. Juniata College dropped into the second position with 6.59 points, with Moravian College just percentage points behind at 6.55. Susquehanna University rounds out the top four with 5.95 points.

Landmark Sends Four Teams To NCAA Basketball Tournaments
Four Landmark Conference basketball have earned the right to compete for a national championship as they have earned spots in the NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament. Tournament play will begin with one Landmark team playing Thursday in the mens championship and the remaining three teams playing on Friday. Second round games will all be on Saturday and game times have not been announced for any of the first round games

Four Teams Ready For Basketball Championships
Two upsets in the mens semifinals and the favorites holding court on the womens side have left two institutions in the running for the inaugural Landmark Conference Basketball Championships. The University of Scranton will host Juniata College in both the womens and mens Landmark Basketball Championships Saturday in Scranton, Pa. The womens game will tip-off at 5 p.m. with the mens game to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Landmark To Hold First Institute
The Landmark Conference will host its first Academic Collaboration/Integration Institute Feb. 5-6 at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The two-day event will bring together administrators and student-athletes from each of the eight institutions in the Division III athletics conference in an effort to try and foster collaborative efforts in areas of collegiate life outside of athletics.

Landmark Announces All-Sport Standings
Following the completion of its first full season of competition the standings for the Landmark Conference All-Sport Trophy are complete. Juniata College sits atop the standings with an edge over the University of Scranton after six fall sports have completed the 2007 season. Juniata accumulated a score of 7.25 after the 2007 fall season, while Scranton sits with a mark of 6.17 in second position. The Catholic University of America and Moravian College sit in third and fourth place respectively with 5.67 and 5.25 points respectively.

The NCAA announced today its support for College Colors Day, scheduled for this Friday, August 31. The Collegiate Licensing Company has officially designated Friday as College Colors Day, which encourages NCAA membership institutions, student-athletes, fans, alumni and students to wear apparel of their favorite college throughout the day on August 31.

Merchant Marine Academy Holds Award Ceremony
Midshipman Frank Dore ( Teaneck , N.J. ), Midshipman Andrea Carey ( Georgetown , Del. ), Head Lacrosse Coach Tom Gill ( Levittown , N.Y. ), Midshipman Eric Vincent ( Trussville , Ala. ) and Midshipman Jess LaValley (Newport , N.C. ) were amongst the many administrators, coaches and midshipman-athletes to be honored at the 2006-07 Varsity Awards Dinner held on June 14 in the Officers Club of Melville Hall. The event celebrated another successful academic year for the Mariners.

More than 18 months after its formation, the Landmark Conference will begin competition in the coming months. The eight-member Division III conference will have official competition and will crown champions beginning in the Fall of 2007.

University of Scranton Joins Landmark Conference
The University of Scranton, a Catholic and Jesuit university founded in 1888, has joined the Landmark Conference, the NCAA Division III athletic association formed last December by seven like-minded colleges and universities in the Mid-Atlantic states.

John Reeves Named First Landmark Commissioner
College-athletics veteran John A. Reeves has been appointed the first commissioner of the Landmark Conference, a newly formed association of seven NCAA Division III institutions in the mid-Atlantic region. Reeves will begin his service as commissioner on September 1, 2006.

Presidents Announce Formation Of New Athletics Conference
The presidents of eight colleges and universities have announced the formation of a new NCAA Division III athletics conference. The members of the new conference will compete in all sports other than football. The conference, yet to be named, will begin competition in the fall of 2007.
