Landmark Players Of The Week Announced

Madison, N.J. - The Landmark Conference has recognized nine
student-athletes as Players of the Week after another full weekend
of conference competition. The selections are made by the Landmark
Conference office.
Men's Cross Country:
Freshman Chris Wasnetsky earned his second invitational win in as
many weeks when he crossed the line first at the Goucher
Mid-Atlantic Classic. Facing nearly all of the Landmark
Conference competitors he covered the 8K course in a time of
27:55.87 which was the fastest time of his career, and the fastest
time by a Scranton runner this year. He helped Scranton finish
third out of the 10-team field.
Women's Cross Country:
Senior J. Fraley Coles was the first runner across the finish line
at the Goucher Mid-Atlantic Classic. Coles won the individual
championship at the event for the third consecutive season,
beating the second-place runner by 14 seconds in the race. She
posted a time of 24:33.37 in the 6K race which featured nearly all
the members of the Landmark Conference.
Field Hockey
Offensive Player of the Week:
Freshman Abby Banholzer was a key offensive component as Catholic
claimed two Landmark victories to remain at the top of the
conference standings. She found the back of the cage twice for the
Cardinals in a 5-0 victory over Goucher, and then converted one
goal to seal a 2-0 win over Scranton. One of her goals against
Goucher, and her tally against the Royals came from the penalty
spot. The three goals were the first three goals of her college
career.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Freshman defender Allison Metzger helped the Gophers claim a tight
Landmark win over Moravian that moved the team into third place by
themselves in the conference standings. Metzger picked up the
assist on Goucher's game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory. She also
had a key defensive save earlier in the match when the score was
tied at one.
Men's Soccer:
Offensive Player of the Week:
Junior Gary Racich had a hand in both goals as Scranton earned a
Landmark victory over Catholic. Racich scored the game-winning goal
with less than 15 minutes to earn a 2-1 win over Catholic. He also
earned an assist on the first goal of the match which gave the home
team an early 1-0 lead. The victory snapped a two-match losing
streak.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Junior goalkeeper Chris Nederostek helped the Greyhounds earn their
first Landmark victory this past week. He stopped four shots as
Moravian blanked Goucher in Landmark play. It was the first shutout
of the season for Nederostek. Earlier in the week he made four
saves in 73 minutes of action against Elizabethtown. His goals
against average for the week was 1.65.
Women's Soccer:
Offensive Player of the Week:
Junior Tracy Fitzpatrick produced offensively for Moravian as the
Greyhounds enjoyed a 3-0 week. She passed out two assists as
Moravian defeated Landmark foe Goucher 9-1. Earlier in the week she
found the back of the net twice, and added an assist in a 4-1
victory over Philadelphia Biblical. She also had the assist on the
only goal as Moravian defeated Muhlenberg. Fitzpatrick finished the
week with two goals and four assists.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Junior Caitlin Corrigan helped Moravian enjoy a 3-0 week. She
posted her sixth shutout of the season by making six saves in a 1-0
win over Muhlenberg. She then played 83 minutes and conceded one
goal against Philadelphia Biblical, and actually earned an assist
in the match. She then did not allow a goal in 45 minutes against
Goucher. Her goals against average for the week was 0.41.
Volleyball:
Junior Abby Barrett played a big role as Scranton went
3-1 on the week, including two wins at the Landmark round robin.
She reached double figures in kills in three of the four matches,
with a high of 15 in wins over both Susquehanna and USMMA. She also
had 14 kills and 12 digs for a double-double against Lycoming, and
then added another double-double in the victory over
Susquehanna. For the week she averaged more than four kills
and four digs per game, and boasted an impressive .325 hitting
percentage. She also contributed four aces and three blocks.
