Landmark Players Of The Week Announced

MADISON, N.J. - The Landmark Conference has selected five student-athletes as Players of the Week. The selections are made by the Landmark Conference office.

Men's Basketball:
Moravian senior Chris Earley helped Moravian claim a pair of wins this past week including a victory in its Landmark Conference opener. Earley notched his first career double-double by pouring in 27 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field, while grabbing 10 rebounds as Moravian defeated Scranton. He also passed out four assists to go along with a steal in the win. Earlier in the week he scored 13 points with four rebounds in a victory over Kean. For the week hs shot 72-percent from the field and 57-percent from three-point range while averaging 20 points, seven rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest.

Women's Basketball:
Goucher senior Shadae Swan helped the Gophers post a perfect 3-0 record this past week with three strong performances. She closed the week by matching a career-high with 34 points in a win over Christopher Newport. She also added seven rebounds in the game. She topped 20 points in each of the other two games on the week, scoring 26 against Hood and 21 against Trinity (D.C.). Swann shot 63-percent from the field over the three games and also averaged 6.3 rebounds per contest. She added eight assists, five steals and three blocks on the week while shooting 67-percent from three-point range.

Men's Swimming & Diving:
USMMA senior Jay Carpenter was strong in multiple events at the ECAC DIII Meet, as well as a dual-meet win over SUNY-Maritime. Carpenter earned points in three individual events, and four relay events at the ECAC meet. He was second in the 100 backstroke in a time of 53.97 and swam a time of 21.42 to place fourth in the 50 freestyle. His efforts helped the Mariners place seventh among 16 teams at the meet. In the win over SUNY-Maritime he won the 100 butterful in a time of 53.58 and was a part of two winning relays.

Women's Swimming & Diving:
Junior Erin O'Connor helped Scranton remain unbeaten in dual meets this season as she won a pair of individual events in the team's Landmark Conference win over Susquehanna. O'Connor was first to the wall in the 400 IM as she posted a time of 4:54.66 and then also won the 500 freestyle with a mark of 5:34.99. The victories gave her eight first-place finishes on the season. O'Connor also swam the opening leg of the winning 400 medley relay team.

Indoor Track & Field:
Susquehanna senior Mike Marr opened the 2007-08 season with an impressive performance at the Bucknell Bison Opener. Competing against Division I and II athletes Marr won the high jump event at the meet with a best leap of 2.01 meters (6'7"). That leap was good enough to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.
