Landmark Announces Players of the Week

TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference has released the Players of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

Baseball Player of the Week
Alex Longernecker
Moravian (Jr., 2B, Bethlehem, Pa.)

Longernecker helped Moravian open its Spring Break trip to the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida with a doubleheader sweep of Heidelberg University. Longernecker was 7-for-10 in the twinbill with two doubles, two triples, six runs scored and five RBIs. Longernecker tied the school record with a pair of triples in the opening game that the Hounds won 16-14 in 13 innings, tying the longest game in school history. In the field, Longernecker had seven assists in eight chances while starting his first two games of the season at second base.

   
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Kevin Farley
Catholic (Sr., P, Chester, N.J.)

Farley pitched the entire game in Sunday's 3-0 win over Franklin & Marshall. He allowed just three hits and recorded seven strikeouts in nine innings of work. The senior pitcher is now 2-0 on the mound this season and still has a perfect 0.00 earned run average.

Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Matt Finor
Scranton (Jr., M, Churchville, Pa.)

Finor won 75 percent of his face-off attempts (15-of-20) to keep the Royals on offense throughout much of the afternoon in Scranton's 12-6 win over Muhlenberg College on Saturday. He added seven ground balls in the win.

Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Emma Ehler
Susquehanna (Sr., M, Chatham, N.J.)

Ehler led Susquehanna this weekend with 10 goals and an assist for 11 points. In Saturday’s win over No. 20 Fredonia, Ehler led all scorers with five goals. She added an assist and five draw controls. On Sunday, Ehler tallied five goals with five draw controls in the Crusaders’ overtime loss to Brockport.

Softball Player of the Week
Amy Laughner Catholic (Jr., OF, Olney, Md.)

Laughner went 6-for-12 at the plate this weekend for Catholic at the Beach Blast in the Mountains held at Roanoke. She was a perfect 4-for-4 in the team's opening 11-3 win over Centenary (N.J.) with two triples and three RBI's. She was 2-for-3 in the team's narrow 2-1 victory over Allegheny with a double and a run scored. Defensively, she also helped record five putouts to shut down the Allegheny offense.

   
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Victoria Capozucca Catholic (Sr., P, Brooklyn, N.Y.)

Capozucca went 2-0 in the opening weekend at the Beach Blast in the Mountains at Roanoke. She struck out seven batters and allowed just three runs in an 11-3 win over Centenary (N.J.) on Saturday. The very next day the senior pitcher gave up just six hits and one run in a 2-1 victory over Allegheny.

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Seth Hoesman Goucher (So., Ellicott City, Md.)

Hoesman move to 4-0 at No. 1 singles this season with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Washington’s (Md.) Vishnu Rajes. He avenged a 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 6-4 defeat to Rajes during the 2013 season. Hoesman combined with teammate David Spivey at No. 1 doubles for an 8-3 loss.
