Landmark Announces Players of the Week

TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference has released the Players of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

Baseball Player of the Week
Steve Kowalksi
Drew (Jr., SS, Robbinsville, N.J.)

Kowalski sparked the Rangers from the leadoff spot during a 4-3 week (3-1 Landmark) that saw Drew score 54 runs. He was .483 (14-for-20) from the plate and got on base at a .559 clip while scoring eight runs and recording 10 RBIs. The junior shortstop stole seven bases to end the Landmark Conference slate as the league leader in the category, and place himself tied for fifth for steals in a single season in the Drew record books. He boasted a perfect fielding percentage last week, committing zero errors on 31 total chances.

   
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Luc Kocher
Susquehanna (Jr., P, Middlebury Center, Pa.)

Kocher went the distance on the mound for Susquehanna on Sunday as the Crusaders wrapped up Landmark play with a 5-1 win over Catholic. Kocher gave up just four hits and a walk in nine innings. He struck out seven and did not allow an earned run in the win.

Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Alec Mikrut
Scranton (So., M, Belle Mead, N.J.)

Mikrut scored two of his game-high three goals in the second half as the Royals held off a late rally to defeat Goucher and lock up the number two seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference tournament He gave Scranton a 6-3 lead with 4:41 left in the third period with a goal, then added another with 4:55 left in the fourth period to give the Royals an 8-6 lead that was eventually whittled down to one with 33 seconds remaining.

   
Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Jared Knowlton
Susquehanna (Jr., GK, North Salem, N.J.)

Knowlton had 15 saves in Susquehanna’s overtime win over Catholic on Saturday. The junior goalie gave up just six goals and finished with a 71.4 save percentage.

Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Michelle McGinniss
Susquehanna (Sr., M, Randolph, N.J.)

McGinniss racked up 15 points this week as Susquehanna earned wins over McDaniel and Goucher. McGinniss scored six goals and added three assists in the Crusaders’ overtime win over McDaniel. She tallied three goals and three assists in Saturday’s Landmark win over Goucher. The senior midfielder added 27 draw controls and seven ground balls in the two games.

   
Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Anastasia Brandenburg
Catholic (Fr., M, Edgewater, Md.)

Brandenburg put together two solid games this week for Catholic who won twice to wrap up a perfect 6-0 regular season mark in the Landmark. She shined on both sides of the field, adding seven goals and an assist to go with her five caused turnovers and four ground balls. In Catholic's 18-1 win at E-Town, Brandenburg had three caused turnovers and a ground ball as the Cardinals shut down the Blue Jays' offense. Against Drew, the rookie midfielder forced two caused turnovers and scooped up three ground balls in the win.

Softball Player of the Week
Rachel DeLucia
Moravian (Sr., INF, Audubon, Pa.)

DeLucia helped power Moravian to a 4-0 mark in Landmark Conference action last week as the Greyhounds clinched the second seed in the 2014 Landmark Tournament. DeLucia was part of Moravian's offensive onslaught that scored 45 runs in the four games. She hit .692 for the week, going 9-for-13 at the plate with a double and three homers for a 1.462 slugging percentage. DeLucia also drove in eight runs and scored seven more.

   
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Lindsay Sullivan
Moravian (So., P/INF, South Glens Falls, N.Y.)

Sullivan won both of her starts in a 4-0 week for the Greyhounds as the squad clinched the second seed in the Landmark Tournament. She pitched two complete games with a 1.75 ERA and added five strikeouts in 12 innings. Sullivan also had two putouts and five assists. At the plate, Sullivan was 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI.

Yacine Zerdoum
Moravian (Sr., Warrington, Pa.)

Zerdoum finished fourth in the 400-meter dash at the Lehigh Games with an ECAC qualifying time of 49.71 seconds.

   
Men's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
Timothy Lorah
Moravian (Sr., Middlesex, N.J.)

Lorah was fifth in the College Men's Javelin Throw College event at the 120th Penn Relays with a season-best and ECAC qualifying toss of 65.50 meters (214 feet, 10 inches). Lorah's throw, which puts him back into first the nation with the top throw in the in Division III on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list, came on his first throw of the competition.

Brielle Sutter

Moravian (Jr., Saddle Brook, N.J.)

Sutter captured first in the 400-meter dash at the Lehigh Games in an ECAC qualifying time of 58.69 seconds.
 

 

Women's Outdoor Field Player of the Week
Cameron Weaver
Susquehanna (Jr., Selinsgrove, Pa.)
In the final meet prior to the Landmark Championships, Weaver broke the Susquehanna and Landmark shot put record with a throw of 12.69 meters. She placed third amongst 38 competitors at Shippensburg’s Paul Kaiser Classic. She also finished 13th in the hammer (37.01m) and 29th in the discus (24.85m).
