Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

Field Hockey
The University of Scranton remains the only team undefeated through the second weekend of games. The Royals moved to 3-0 on the season after their 4-0 shutout against Elmira on Saturday. Other weekend winners included Elizabethtown (3-1) and Goucher (2-2).

Men’s Soccer
Catholic University and Moravian College picked up wins over the weekend. The Cardinals are now 2-1 after splitting a pair of games at the Blue Devil Classic. Catholic lost its opener, 2-1 against Buffalo State, before knocking off host Fredonia, 2-0 on Saturday. The Greyhounds won back-to-back games last week. In their midweek matchup against Centenary, Moravian hung on for the 2-1 victory and came out hot against Wilkes, beating the Colonels, 4-1 on Saturday.

Women’s Soccer
Catholic University came out on top in a nine-goal thriller Wednesday afternoon with a 6-3 win over Hood College. After falling behind 3-2 in the first half, the Cardinals responded with four goals in the second to continue their undefeated start to the season. Catholic is now 4-0. The University of Scranton remains unbeaten thanks to a 4-1 performance over Western Connecticut State. Senior Jamie Hreniuk pushed her scoring streak to three matches. Other weekend winners included Moravian College (2-1-1), and Susquehanna University (2-1-1).

Volleyball
The University of Scranton traveled to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. where the Royals went 3-1. Scranton is now 6-3 on the season. Catholic University hosted its Guetle Invitational where the Cardinals went 2-1. Catholic is now 6-2 on the season. Goucher College picked up a pair of wins over the weekend to even its record at 4-4.

Tennis
Susquehanna was the lone tennis program to compete over the weekend. On the men’s side, the River Hawks defeated Penn College 9-0.

Men's Athlete of the Week - Evan Ulrich, Juniata

Men's Athlete of the Week - Evan Ulrich, Juniata

(Jr., Homer, N.Y.)

Juniata junior Evan Ulrich helped the Eagles to a first-place finish at the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen Invite with a second place showing. Ulrich posted a time of 26:40.66.

Women's Athlete of the Week - Erin Reese, Susquehanna

Susquehanna junior Erin Reese continued to impress with another top finish for the River Hawks. The junior nearly broke the school record for a 5K race and crossed the line in third place overall. Reese clocked a 19:08.48 and was just four seconds off the school record of 19:04.89.

Junior Gracie McClatchy totaled 11 points on five goals and one assist and netted the game-winning goal in both of Scranton's games in a 2-0 week. The junior forward scored the final three goals after assisting on the Royals' first goal in a 4-1 win over William Paterson on Wednesday. McClatchy then scored Scranton's first two goals in a 4-0 victory over Elmira on Saturday.

Drew senior Ryann Callaghan averaged 10.5 saves per game over a pair of matches for the Rangers. In a 3-0 loss at Widener, she turned aside a season-high 16 shots and broke the school record for career saves. She also made five saves in a 1-0 shootout loss to Keuka, blanking the Wolves over 90 minutes of regulation and overtime. Callaghan posted a 2.00 goals-against average and a .840 save percentage for the week.

Offensive Athlete of the Week - Aidan Cserhat, Drew

Drew junior Aidan Cserhat scored three goals and handed out one assist in a 2-1 week for the No. 12 Rangers. He netted the first two goals of the game and later handed out an assist in Drew's 6-0 victory over FDU-Florham. Cserhat also scored the second goal in the Rangers' 2-0 win over St. John Fisher.

Drew junior Jason Adamo posted a 0.67 goals-against average and a .867 in a 2-1 week for the No. 12 Rangers. He opened the week with back-to-back shutouts, making three saves apiece in a 6-0 win over FDU-Florham and a 2-0 victory over St. John Fisher. Adamo also turned aside a season-high seven shots in a 2-1 loss at No. 13 Johns Hopkins.

Catholic University junior Elizabeth Johnson extended her scoring streak, scoring three goals while adding two assists over the weekend. Johnson earned six points in the 6-3 win over Hood (two goals, two assists), and scored the game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory against Berry.

Drew sophomore Madison Dudziec notched a pair of shutouts while allowing just one goal over 290 minutes in a 2-0-1 week for the Rangers. She opened with three saves in a 1-0 win at Manhattanville, then followed up with a season-high six saves in a 1-0 victory over Coast Guard. Dudziec ended the week with a 0.33 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage.

Senior Nicholas Meale led Susquehanna to a 9-0 shutout against Penn College. Meale won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles and won at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Athlete of the Week - Dejia Danhi, Juniata

(Jr., MH - Ashburn, Va.)

Juniata junior Dejia Danhi helped the Eagles to a 2-1 weekend at the ASICS Tournament. The Eagles defeated Christopher Newport 3-0 where the junior had eight kills and four blocks. In the matchup against No. 3 Wittenberg, Danhi recorded 11 kills with five blocks. In the final match of the day, she helped JC take down No. 24 Carnegie Mellon, 3-1 with 11 kills and six blocks. For the weekend, Danhi had 30 kills, four service aces, and 15 blocks.
