Rangers Baseball Slugs Out A Victory

MADISON, N.J. - Drew continued its hot hitting with a 16-7 win
over New York Polytechnic at Doc Young Field. James Soldo cracked
his first homerun in a 4-5 day as the Rangers collected 19 hits in
total. Andrew Baxter pitched seven solid innings. Following
Sunday’s 21 run outburst, the Rangers have now scored 37 runs
in the past two games.
Polytech put up four runs in the first, but Drew answered with four
of its own. Hits from James Soldo, Andrew Imperiale and Zack Bircks
all brought home runs in the inning. The big turn at bat was in the
third as Drew put up a ten spot. Matt McGrath, who went 2-4 with 3
RBI, drove in John Minio with a single. Tom Sharp brought in two
with a triple and Bircks picked up another ribbie with a double.
Dante LaPenta doubled in a run and later scored on
Imperiale’s two-bagger. McGrath finished off the inning with
another two run double.
In the fourth, Nixon Feliz singled and then jogged home on James
Soldo’s homerun over the fence in left field. The senior has
had himself quite a week so far; in his final stretch in the Green
and Blue, Soldo is nine for his last 11 with six runs scored.
The Rangers cooled off, but had plenty of runs by that point.
The final excitement came from ace Matt Levine’s attempt to
leg out an infield single and diving stop while filling in at
second base.
The Rangers travel to Haverford tomorrow before hosting Catholic
this weekend.
