Wagner's Goal Helps Eagles Prevail In OT

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The 13th-ranked Juniata College field
hockey team extended its winning streak to eight games with a 2-1
overtime win over Kenyon College, Sunday afternoon in Slippery
Rock, Pa.
Kim Wagner (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) scored the game winner, her
21st goal of the season, with 8:52 remaining in the first overtime
period, to lift the Eagles (16-2, 4-1 Landmark) to the victory.
Kenyon (8-10, 7-3 North Coast) held the lead at the intermission,
following Maggie Gilligan's goal with 8:08 remaining in the first
half, off an assist from Lauren Keiling.
Juniata's Leslie Stern (Felton, Pa./Red Lion) knotted the game at
1-1 with just 9:17 left in regulation, with her fifth goal of the
season. Paula Price (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) was credited
with an assist.
Abby Funk (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) played all 76 minutes in the
Eagle goal, turning aside six Kenyon shots. Melissa Gorman
(Boxborough, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) was credited with a defensive
save. Kenyon goalie Karen Thompson recorded five saves in the
Ladies' goal.
Juniata outshot Kenyon 26-5, and held a 13-4 advantage in penalty
corner opportunities.
The Eagles' return to action on Thursday, Oct. 25, when they face
Wesley College in Dover, Del.
