Seniors Help Eagles Capture Eighth-Straight Win

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -- Juniata College seniors Michelle Campbell (Annville, Pa./Northern Lebanon) and Kim Wagner (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) scored two goals apiece as the 15th-ranked Eagles won their eighth game in a row with a 4-1 win over Delaware Valley College, Thursday night in Doylestown, Pa.

All four Juniata goals came in the second half. Campbell opened the Eagle scoring run barely two-and-a-half minutes in the second frame with a goal off an assist from Ashleigh Ehnts (Glenside, Pa./Bishop McDevitt). Campbell notched her second of the night, and what ultimately proved to be the game-winner, with 20:24 left in the game. Freshman Paula Price (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) was credited with the assist on Campbell's second goal.

Wagner expanded Juniata's lead to 3-0 just a minute later, off an assist from Jenn Moss (Barrington, R.I./Barrington). Wagner topped off Juniata's scoring for the night with an insurance goal with 13:18 remaining, with the assist going to Heather Hassinger (Middleburg, Pa./Middleburg).

DelVal spoiled the Juniata shutout with 22 seconds left in the game, as Bethany Pavlik beat Eagle goalie Abby Funk (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg).

Funk finished the game with five saves while playing all 70 minutes in the Juniata cage, while Aggies goalie Jackie Deschenes was credited with nine saves. Juniata outshot DelVal 21-9.

The Eagles (8-1, 1-0 Landmark) return to action on Saturday, Sept. 29, when they host Catholic University in a Landmark Conference matchup. The game will be the final weekend home game of 2007 for Juniata, and the Eagle seniors will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony.
