Greyhounds Capture First Conference Victory

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Moravian field hockey team earned their
first-ever Landmark Conference victory and extended their winning
streak to three straight matches with a 3-1 victory over The
University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference contest at Betty
Prince Field.
Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute when senior
midfielder Mauri Dallago netted her first goal of the season off of
a pass by senior forward Savannah Bayer. The Royals tied the match
in the 16th minute when freshman midfielder/forward Corrie Szapka
found the back of the cage off of an assist from senior midfielder
Clare Devine.
The Greyhounds retook the lead in the 38th minute on an unassisted
goal by junior forward Julia Garofalo, her fifth tally of the
season. Bayer would add an insurance goal for Moravian 90 seconds
later off of a pass from Garofalo. The goal was Bayer's fifth of
the season.
The Greyhounds had a 20-9 advantage in shots and a 12-7 edge in
penalty corners. Freshman goalie Maura Acox registered five saves
in the victory for Moravian while Scranton junior keeper Kristina
Goetz had 11 saves.
