Moravian Blanks Delaware Valley

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Greyhound field hockey team earned a 2-0 non-conference victory at Delaware Valley College as Moravian freshman goalie Maura Acox posted her first collegiate shutout with six saves.

Senior forward Savannah Bayer gave the Greyhounds all of the offense they would need when she scored an unassisted goal on a penalty corner with no time remaining on the clock at the end of the first half. The goal was Bayer's second of the season.

Moravian extended its lead to 2-0 just 1:23 into the second half when junior forward Julia Garofalo knocked a pass from sophomore forward Kayla Carson for Garofalo's team-leading fourth goal of the year.

Delaware Valley had an 11-7 advantage in shots in the contest, and the Aggies had a 14-5 edge in penalty corners. Delaware Valley goalie Jackie Deschenes had two saves in the contest.
