Dollarton Goals Lift Moravian Past Scranton
SCRANTON, PA - The Moravian College men's soccer team played its
second straight overtime match in Landmark Conference action, this
time earning a 2-1 victory at The University of Scranton Wednesday
afternoon on the second goal of the match by junior forward Louis
Dollarton (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights HS).
The Royals jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute when Gary
Racich (Jackson, NJ/Saint Rose HS) scored on a 22-yard shot after a
pass deflected off of a Moravian defender.
The lead would be short lived with Dollarton tying the score just
50 seconds later with his team leading fifth goal of the season on
a 17-yard shot set up by freshman midfielder Brian Hunscher's (Ann
Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor HS) pass over the defense. The Greyhounds would
have several chances in the second half and early in overtime with
Dollarton just missing a header and having two point-blank shots
saved. Senior midfielder Ryan Hess (Harleysville, PA/Souderton HS)
hit the cross bar in the second half while senior defender Daniel
Scavone (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg North HS) put a
direct kick from midfield on goal after halftime.
Dollarton finally finished off the game with his third
game-winning goal of the season in the 100th minute when Hess
fought to control the ball and send Dollarton one-on-one with the
goalie for his sixth goal of the year.
Scranton had a 20-15 advantage in shots and a 9-5 edge in corner
kicks. Moravian junior goalie Chris Nederostek (Lansdale,
PA/Christopher Dock HS) posted 11 saves for his third win of the
season. Scranton goalie Bob Schwarting (Aston, PA/Sun Valley HS)
had one save in the first half while keeper Brandon Dombrowski
(Hockessin, DE/Salesianum HS) made five saves in the second half
and overtime for the Royals.
