Moravian Vaults Into Postseason Picture With Win

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team won its second straight Landmark Conference match, shuting out The Catholic University of America, 3-0, Sunday afternoon.

Senior defender Daniel Scavone (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg North HS) gave the Greyhounds all of the offense they would need in the 16th minute when he scored his first collegiate goal by putting a free kick in the back of the net. Sophomore midfielder Michael Tarulli (Bear Creek, PA/James Coughlin HS).  added two unassisted goals in the second half, one in the 67th minute and another in the 88th minute, to give him three goals for the season.

Moravian had an 18-17 advantage in shots and a 7-6 edge in corner kicks. The three goals were the most in a match this season for Moravian.

Greyhound junior goalie Chris Nederostek (Lansdale, PA/Christopher Dock HS) made seven saves for his second shutout of the season while Joe Shettino had six saves for the Cardinals. Catholic also had one team save and keeper Quinn Daly did not make a save in the final three minutes of the match.
