Friday Focus with David Boretti

Friday Focus with David Boretti

The Landmark Conference is full of talented student-athletes and the "Friday Focus" is just one way fans can get to know them. This week the conference introduces David Boretti, Elizabethtown men's soccer player.

Boretti and the Elizabethtown men's soccer team will compete in the Landmark for the first time this fall. The rising senior is a two-year starter for the Blue Jays and used on both ends of the field. He finished the 2013 season with four goals including game-winners against Susquehanna and Widener. Boretti is also a standout in the classroom having earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors last fall.

David Boretti
Rising Senior, Men's Soccer
Garmisch, Germany/Archbishop Spalding (Md.)
Major: Mechanical Engineering & History

Why did you choose to attend Elizabethtown?
Elizabethtown is the perfect combination of a strong academic institution, an excellent athletic department, and a comfortable small school feel.

What has been the greatest part of your experience as a college athlete so far?
The friendships and life-long bonds that are a part of the Blue Jay brotherhood.

Who has been the most influential person during your athletic career? Why?
My dad. He taught me how to work hard and always coached me and trained me when I was little.

What was your most embarrassing sports moment?
As a freshman in high school, I was playing third base for the JV baseball team. A groundball was hit to me, and I tried to throw the kid out at first. Not only did I overthrow our first baseman, I threw the ball so far over his head that it sailed over dugout behind him and into the street that runs behind our field. It had to be the worst throw in the history of the sport of baseball, although 50 Cent's first pitch was also pretty terrible.

What do you look forward to competing in the Landmark?
The quality of the soccer teams in the Landmark is so tough that every game is important. We want to be champions this fall, and we know that we will have to earn it every single game along the way.

What is something most people do not know about you?
I am the oldest of nine children.
