Scranton Men's Tennis Upends Moravian

SCRANTON, Pa. — Behind two victories from freshman Carl
Caceres (Teaneck, N.J./Bergen Catholic), The University of Scranton
downed Moravian College, 6-3, in Landmark Conference action for its
fifth straight victory.
Caceres won his fifth straight singles match and improved to 13-5
on the season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Chandler Forman at
number two. In doubles, he teamed with sophomore Michael Arrighi
(Warren, N.J./Seton Hall Preparatory) to post an 8-4 victory over
Forman and Thomas Turcich. Arrighi and Caceres has won eight
straight and nine of their last 10 doubles matches to improve to
13-4.
Also posting victories in singles for Scranton, now 8-4-1 overall
and 4-1 in the Landmark Conference, were freshman Tagg McGurrin
(Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Preparatory), and sophomore Steve
Russo (Scranton, Pa./Bishop Hannan). McGurrin took over the
team-lead in victories with 14 by defeating Keith Feinman, 6-1,
6-1, at three and Russo moved to 3-7 on the season with a 7-5, 6-1
victory over Matthew Share at five. Sophomore Scott Melideo (Dix
Hills, N.Y./Half Hallow Hills East) had an 11-match winning streak
in singles snapped by dropping a 6-1, 7-5 decision to Ian Box at
number one.
Scranton returns to Landmark Conference action this Saturday, April
12, against Goucher College in Towson, Maryland, beginning at 12:00
p.m.
