Juniata Splits Tri-Meet To Give O'Donnell Her First Win

ALTOONA, Pa. - The Juniata College womens' swim team defeated
Hood College 46 to 42, Saturday at Penn State Altoona's Tri-meet
against Hood College and Penn State Altoona, giving Head Coach
Lauren O'Donnell her first win of her career.
The Eagles out swam the Blazers, but could not beat the Lions,
62-38, due only to Penn State having more swimmers in each event.
Juniata swimmers took first in six events during the Tri-meet.
Sophomore Evan Beatty (Hershey, Pa./ Hershey) and junior Lindsay
Cooper (Altoona, Pa./ Altoona) each placed first in three
events.
Beatty swam to a first place finish, winning all the distance
events in the meet. She placed first in the women's 1000 yard
freestyle with a time of 12:11.32; the 200 yard freestyle clocking
in at 2:14.48; and the 500 yard freestyle finishing with
5:59.71.
Cooper swam to victory in the women's 50 yard freestyle touching
the wall at 26.87, the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 59.36, and
100 yard breaststroke clocking in at 1:17.42.
Leann Foster (Folsom, Pa./ Interboro) opened up her diving career
at the Tri-meet and took a first place finish with a total score of
163.70 points. Foster received 40 more points than her challenger
from Penn State Altoona.
The next time Juniata enters the water will be the Landmark
Conference Championships beginning on February 12.
