Susquehanna's Christie Savard Featured in Sports Illustrated's Faces In The Crowd

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Susquehanna University’s junior swimmer Christie Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) will appear in the March 8, 2010, issue of Sports Illustrated, expected to hit newsstands on either Wednesday or Thursday, March 3 or 4.

A picture of and a brief story on Savard can be found in the “Faces in the Crowd” section of that magazine. The writing details her performance at the 2009–10 Landmark Conference swimming & diving championships.

Savard is the second Susquehanna athlete to appear in Sports Illustrated in less than 11 months. John Lunardi ’09 appeared for baseball and football in the April 20, 2009, issue.

Lunardi and Savard are the fifth and sixth SU sports representatives to appear in “Faces,” along with Matt Deamer ’03 for track & field on April 21, 2003; Head Coach Don Harnum for men’s golf and basketball on June 5, 2000; Cheryl Irvine ’96 Ruckman for field hockey on Nov. 1, 1993; and Head Coach Jim Garrett for football on Nov. 26, 1962.
