Moravian Women Compete On Day One Of New Balance Invitational
NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Moravian College women's indoor track &
field team participated in the first day of the New Balance
Collegiate Invitational at the New York City Armory. The Greyhounds
had four competitors in four difference events in the opening day
of the meet that includes 144 teams including many of the top NCAA
Division I and Division II teams in the nation.
Senior Jessica Posimo, pictured at right, had Moravian's best
performance of the day as she placed 38th of 49 runners in the
60-meter hurdles with an ECAC Division III qualifying time of 9.61
seconds. Posimo also placed 49th of 73 competitors in the long jump
with a leap of 5.14 meters (16 feet, 10 1/2 inches). Freshman Micah
Leonard was 58th in the long jump at 4.99 meters (16 feet, 4 1/2
inches) while senior Symonne Scott placed 60th at 4.96 meters (16
feet, 3 1/4 inches). Senior Rachel Riggs finished 66th in the long
jump at a distance of 4.83 meters (15 feet, 10 1/4 inches).
On the track, Scott was 43rd of 62 runners in the 60-meter dash in
8.07 seconds while senior Rachel Beck took 47th in 8.09 seconds.
Scott also placed 53rd in the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying
time of 26.64 seconds while Beck placed 56th in an ECAC qualifying
time of 26.76 seconds. Beck finished third in her heat while Scott
was fourth in her heat.
The Greyhounds did not compete on the second day of the meet due to
inclement weather.
