Detweiler Honored as Women's Indoor T&F Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. — Elizabethtown's Kelsey Detweiler has been named the Landmark Women's Indoor Track & Field Senior Scholar Athlete for the 2016-17 season. Detweiler is the eighth Blue Jay to earn senior scholar recognition, and is the second track & field honoree, joining Andrew Lesko, who was the men's recipient this winter.

Detweiler has been a strong contender in the sprint races throughout her collegiate career, earning two silver medals and one gold medal at the 2017 Landmark Indoor Track & Field Championships. Detweiler ran the second leg of the winning 4x400-meter relay, earning her first career indoor gold medal. Elizabethtown also went on to win its first-ever Landmark Conference indoor championship, edging Moravian 165.5 to 161.5.

Detweiler has been a part of two of the six fastest 4x200-meter relays in school history as well as three of the eight fastest 4x400-meter relays. She competed at Tufts Final Qualifying Meet a week after the league championships, where the distance medley relay team crushed the program's previous record. Detweiler ran the 400m leg.

A Landmark Winter Academic Honor Roll member in every eligible semester, Detweiler maintains a 3.98 grade-point average while majoring in Business Administration. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Delta Mu Delta Honor Society, is an Emergent Scholar, Recipient of Musselman Scholarship.

The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. 

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors.
