INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Senior Andrea Galeano of Catholic University and Moravian College junior Carly Danoski have qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships on March 8-9 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, Massachusetts being hosted by the University of Massachusetts-Boston.
Galeano, the 2019 Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Year, posted the eighth-best throw in the nation en route to winning her second consecutive Landmark Conference championship in the weight throw.
Since the first NCAA Division III Indoor Championship in 1985, Galeano is the only woman from Catholic to qualify for the national championships. She also qualified as a sophomore in 2017, finishing 17th with a mark of 15.75 meters in Naperville, Illinois. That year, she was the youngest competitor at the NCAA indoor meet as the only sophomore. There were also just five juniors.
In qualifying for nationals as a sophomore, she posted a personal best of 17.98 meters to win the conference championship.
Danoski will run in the preliminaries of the 800-meter run on Friday, March 8 at 6:20 p.m. with the top two runners in each heat and the next two top times advancing to the finals on Saturday, March 9 at 3:55 p.m. Danoski is 16th on the qualifying list with a season-best time of 2:14.13, which is also the Moravian school record, in the Fastrack National Invitational on Friday, February 8 at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, New York.
Danoski is making her second trip to the NCAA Division III Championships, and first indoors. Last May, she was 19th in the 800-meters at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Meet in Wisconsin.
