Goucher Swamps Gators In Three Games

TOWSON, Md. - What it took the Goucher volleyball team four games to do five nights ago, it accomplished in just three games tonight - defeat Notre Dame (Md.). The Gophers handed the Gators (4-16) a 3-0 setback, winning 30-19, 30-15, 30-16.
Megan Smith (Honolulu, HI/Long Beach Polytechnic) supplied the Gophers with a team-high 13 kills and eight digs. The sophomore outside hitter is averaging 3.69 kills per game this season and has recorded 10 or more kills in 10 of Goucher's last 11 matches.
The Gophers (15-11) served a total of 21 aces in the match, including seven by Rebecca Schaefer (River Edge, NJ/River Dell).
As a team, the Gophers hit .224 in the match.
The win was Goucher's second of the season over Notre Dame. On Oct. 12, head coach Michael Bossom's squad downed the Gators, 3-1 (28-30, 30-24, 30-18, 30-20).
