Juniata Volleyball Splits Against Ranked Foes

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- The top-ranked Juniata College women's
volleyball team took a split in a pair of tough day one matches at
the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational, Friday night in
Oshkosh, Wis.
The Eagles posted a 3-1 win over no. 3 University of
Wisconsin-Whitewater to open the tournament, with game scores of
28-30, 32-30, 34-32, and 30-25. In the second match of Juniata's
twinbill, the Eagles dropped a 3-2 decision to 19th-ranked
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, 3-2. Game scores against UW-La
Crosse were 26-30, 30-27, 30-20, 22-30, and 15-11.
"La Crosse played us really well, and we didn't respond to some
good stuff," said Juniata head coach Larry Bock. "I probably made
too many subs, trying to give some of the starters some rest, but
we still had a chance to win. I put the regulars back in during
game three, but La Crosse had some momentum by then."
Junior middle hitter Erin Albert (Philipsburg,
Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) led the Eagles offensively with 23 kills,
to go with four blocks. Sophomore Megan Sollenberger
(Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had 30 digs. Juniata was
without the services of junior setter Erin Kozak (Huntingdon,
Pa./Huntingdon), who was injured during a match against Catholic
University on October 6, and did not travel to Wisconsin.
