Juniata Nets Three All-America Honors

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -Three Juniata College women's volleyball
players, including two first-time selections, were named to the
27th annual American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)
All-America teams, which were released Tuesday.
Junior outside hitter Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley)
is a First team All-America selection for the second year in a row,
and is one of three three-time honorees on this year's All-America
squads. She leads the Eagles with 485 kills (4.37 per game) with
306 digs (2.76).
Junior setter Beth Kozak (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) earned
her first appearance on the AVCA All-America squad as a Second team
selection. Kozak has 1,230 assists (12.81 per game) this season,
with 265 digs (2.76 per game), 39 blocks (0.41 per game) and 22
service aces.
Sophomore libero Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland
Valley) was named a Third team All-American in her first selection
to the AVCA All-America teams. Sollenberger leads the Eagles with
789 digs (6.07 per game) this season, and needs just 53 more digs
to set a new Juniata single season record. She also has a team-high
66 service aces this season, an average of 0.51 per game.
Juniata is currently 36-4 heading into the quarterfinal round of
the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship. The Eagles
will face Amherst College out of the New England Small College
Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in a quarterfinal matchup on Thursday,
Nov. 15, at 3:30 p.m. CT at Illinois Wesleyan University's Shirk
Center in Bloomington, Ill.
The AVCA will announce its 2007 Division III Player of the Year at
the National Championship banquet in Bloomington on Wednesday, Nov.
14.
