Royals Sweep Past Local Rival Wilkes

SCRANTON, Pa. - Junior middle blocker Abby Barrett (Towanda, Pa./Towanda Area) had 13 kills and 8 digs and senior middle blocker Brooke Hinkley (Hallstead, Pa./Blue Ridge) contributed 8 kills, 6 digs and 6 total blocks to lead The University of Scranton to a 3-0 victory (30-19, 30-12, 30-10) victory over Wilkes University in non-conference action Monday evening at the Long Center.

Junior setter Jenn McKeighan (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) added 24 assists, 4 service aces and 8 digs as the Royals improved to 22-10.  Wilkes, which fell to 11-16, was led by junior middle hitter Katherine Harrington (LaFayette, N.Y./LaFayette) and freshman outside hitter Marissa Harrison (Shavertown, Pa./Lake Lehman) with seven kills apiece.

Senior defensive specialist Meaghan Curtin (Hicksville, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) finished with 15 digs to raise her University of Scranton single-season record to 704.

The Royals will close out the regular-season this Saturday, October 27, against Gallaudet University and Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania.
