USMMA Volleyball Coach Included In TV Special

KINGS POINT, N.Y. - LT Ann Wickham of the Department of Marine Transportation and assistant coach for the USMMA women's volleyball team will be featured on the WLIW Channel 21 program, Snapshot, on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m.

This episode of Snapshot will focus on women in defense industries and the military, including the admission of women to the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

LT Wickham is a member of the Class of 2001 and serves as the U.S. Coast Guard representative to the Academy as well as assistant coach of the volleyball program.  

As a student-athlete at USMMA, she played a role on the first Mariner volleyball team in school history to qualify for the NCAA Tournament in 1999 during her junior season. As a senior in 2000, she helped lead the team back to the NCAA Tournament and stands amongst the few in program history to compete in the postseason event multiple times.  

She returned to the volleyball program as an assistant coach in 2005 and helped the Mariners advance as far as the Skyline Conference Championship game. Furthermore, she was a member of the Academy's inaugural women's basketball team in 2000-01.
