Landmark Honors Second Semester Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has chosen fourteen student-athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective winter and spring sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities. It is the most exclusive award given out by the conference with just 20 honorees for each academic year.

Scranton Moves To Top Of President's All-Sports Cup Standings
The University of Scranton Royals have claimed the top spot in the Landmark President’s All-Sports Cup standings after the completion of the winter season. Twelve of the twenty sports in the Landmark Conference have now concluded leaving institutions only the spring season to leave their mark on the standings. After claiming three Landmark Conference Championships Scranton has accumulated a score of 7.65 to edge out previous leader Susquehanna University’s score of 7.38.

Landmark Honors Thirty-Two Student-Athletes On Winter All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2009Winter Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark winter sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Conference Names Women's Basketball All-Conference Team
After a highly-competitive second season of competition 12 student-athletes have been selected to the 2008-09 All-Landmark Conference Women’s Basketball Team as voted by the conference’s eight head coaches. The team consists of a first and second team, with six players on each team, and the selections made by position. The voting for the All-Conference Team took place after the conclusion of the regular season and prior to the start of the Landmark postseason.

Tournament play will begin with all three teams hitting the floor on Friday evening with first-round action with second round games taking place on Saturday. Scranton Repeats As Landmark Women's Basketball Champions
An unlikely hero emerged for The University of Scranton against Moravian College in the championship game of the Landmark Conference tournament Saturday evening at the Long Center. Sophomore guard Jennifer King (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) came off the bench and scored 11 of her 12 points in the second half as the Lady Royals won their second consecutive Landmark title with a 71-57 victory. She also finished with three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal in 17 minutes of action.

Scranton Women Return To Landmark Basketball Championship
A comfortable halftime lead turned into an uncomfortable finish for The University of Scranton women's basketball team against Susquehanna University in the semifinals of the Landmark Conference tournament Wednesday evening at the Long Center. The Lady Royals let a 13-point halftime lead dwindle down to one before sophomore guard Megan Kopecki (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) scored 10 of her career-high 24 points in the final five minutes as Scranton held on for a 60-51 victory. The win was the 15th straight for the 18th-ranked Lady Royals, now 22-4. Scranton now moves into Saturday’s championship game against #2 Moravian at the Long Center at a time to be determined.

Jessica Del Vecchio continued her hot streak by pouring in a career high 28 as Drew defeated Vassar, 78-66. The Rangers trailed by with four minutes left in the game before finishing on a 16-5 run sparked by Del Vecchio and Laura Methvin. Vassar got 22 points from Brittany Parks and 20 from Kristyn Tempora in the loss. Drew wins its tenth game of the season, four more than last season, in improving to 10-9.

Juniata College senior Kelly Ashcraft (Bellefonte, Pa./State College Area) scored her 1,000th career point on Saturday afternoon, but it may be her 1,002nd point that she remembers for much longer. Ashcraft's layup with 48 seconds remaining put the Eagles in the lead for good and lifted Juniata to a 64-58 win over 16th-ranked Moravian College, in a Landmark Conference women's basketball matchup in Huntingdon, Pa.

Coach Mike Strong Reaches Milestone In Scranton Win
University of Scranton women's basketball head coach Mike Strong’s 700th career victory certainly had its share of anxious moments Sunday afternoon at the Long Center. The Lady Royals fought off a valiant effort by Drew University and pulled away down the stretch en route to a 73-54 victory, extending their season-long winning streak to six and improve to 13-4 overall and 6-1 in the Landmark Conference. The loss dropped the Rangers to 8-8 overall and 2-5 in the conference.
