Landmark Releases 2018-19 Women's Basketball Awards

TOWSON, Md. – University of Scranton junior Makenzie Mason was selected as the 2018-19 Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year in voting conducted by the league's eight head coaches. Teammate, junior Emily Sheehan earned Defensive Player of the Year honors and Goucher College's Anise Williams was named Rookie of the Year. Elizabethtown head coach Veronica Nolt and her staff earned Coach of the Year accolades.

University of Scranton junior guard Makenzie Mason is the seventh Royal to win Landmark Player of the Year accolades. She joins Kathleen Daly (2008), Megan Kopecki (2009, 2010, 2011), Meredith Mesaris (2015), Sarah Payonk (2016) and teammate Bridgette Mann (2018). Mason had a standout junior season, helping the Lady Royals close out the regular season on a four-game winning streak, locking up the No. 1 seed in the conference championship. Through 27 games, Mason averages 13.9 points per game to go along with 7.5 rebounds and ranks second with 48 blocks.

Scranton junior guard Emily Sheehan makes her first appearance on the all-conference team. Sheehan averages 9.4 points a game. Defensively, she registered 38 steals and nine blocks through 27 games.

Goucher freshman Anise Williams is the first Gopher to earn Rookie of the Year honors since Goucher joined the Landmark in 2007. She is also just the fifth Goucher women's basketball player to earn All-Landmark status. Williams was recognized on the Second Team this season. She led all first-year Landmark Conference players in points per game (15.2), second in rebounds per game (5.9) and led the entire league in steals per game (3.6).

Elizabethtown College head coach Veronica Nolt earns her first Coach of the Year honors in the Landmark. She led the Blue Jays to a 19-7 season and earned a trip to Etown's first conference title game since 2000-01.
