Royals Pick Up Third-Straight Win

SCRANTON, Pa. — Freshman attacker Caroline Pryor
(Robbinsville, N.J./Notre Dame) had four goals and an assist and
junior midfielder Diana Rocklein (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip)
tallied three goals and an assist to lead The University of
Scranton to its third straight victory, a 13-4 win over Neumann
College in non-conference action Thursday evening at Fitzpatrick
Field.
The Royals, now 5-3, also received two goals and two assists from
junior attacker Madelyn Sminkey (Springfield, Pa./Springfield), two
goals and an assist from sophomore attacker Kristen Marquino
(Baldwin, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial), and a goal apiece from junior
midfielder Katie Cordier (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery) and sophomore
attacker Regina Matus (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty).
Junior attacker Rachael DiCicco (South Dennis, N.J./Archbishop
Prendergast) led the Knights, now 3-5, with two goals and sophomore
attacker Colleen Finnegan (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) and
junior defender Tiffany Baker (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional)
added one apiece.
Rocklein and Pryor scored two goals apiece in the opening 18
minutes to open up a 4-0 lead en route to an 8-2 advantage by
intermission. The Royals put the game out of reach by scoring the
first five goals of the second-half to extend their lead to
13-2.
Senior goalie Caitlin O’Shea (Springfield, Pa./Springfield)
turned away 14 of 27 shot attempts for Neumann while Scranton
sophomore Cassie Murphy (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) made eight,
including five in the second-half.
Scranton held a 36-18 advantage in shots and won 13 of 19 draw
controls.
The Royals will open their Landmark Conference schedule this
Saturday, April 5, by taking on the Lady Greyhounds of Moravian
College at 1:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field.
