One Goal Enough To Keep Rangers In Postseason Chase

MADISON, N.J. - One great goal was all that was needed as Drew women's soccer defeated Susquehanna 1-0 in a key Landmark Conference victory at Ranger Stadium. Alyssa Goodman headed in a free kick from Laura Zeiden in the first half and the Ranger defense made it stand up as Drew improved to 5-7-3, 2-2-1 in the Landmark. The win keeps the Rangers' playoff hopes alive as they are in fourth place with seven points, pending other results.
In the 28th miunte, Drew won a free kick on the right hand side, 35 yards out. Zeiden sent in a great cross that Goodman was first to. The sophomore netted her seventh goal of the season with a powered header. It was the only goal of the match, but a well worked set piece that earned the Rangers the victory.
Ann Mularz posted her fifth shutout of the season by making seven saves, though the Ranger defense did a good job preventing the Crusaders from getting too many good chances. The Rangers have only a trip to Moravian next Saturday left in their conference schedule, but two non-conference games next week as well with a trip to William Paterson on Monday and a home game against New Paltz on Wednesday.
