June 30, 2009Landmark Honors Second Semester Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has chosen fourteen student-athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective winter and spring sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities. It is the most exclusive award given out by the conference with just 20 honorees for each academic year.

Landmark Releases Spring All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2009 Spring Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically.

Women's Tennis All-Conference Team Announced
A total of 19 student-athletes have been selected to the 2009 All-Landmark Conference Womens Tennis Team as selected by the conferences eight head coaches. The team consists of a first and second team, with six singles players and three doubles pairings per team and the voting took place prior to Landmark postseason competition.

Moravian Defends Landmark Women's Tennis Crown
Top seed Moravian captured its second straight Landmark Conference Womens Tennis Championship, defeating third seed Goucher College, 8-1, at Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds finish the season with an eight-match winning streak to post a 14-5 overall record and have not lost two a Landmark Conference opponent in the two-year history of the conference.

Gouchers Top Eagles To Earn Shot At Women's Tennis Title
When Goucher lost to Juniata, 6-3, back on April 5, the Eagles prevailed in two of the three doubles matches and dominated the upper half of the singles competition. But when the two teams clashed today in the semifinals of the 2009 Landmark Conference championship tournament, things were different. For starters, this time it was the Gophers who emerged from doubles play with a 2-1 lead. Still, without Tanya Cooley (Arlington, Va./Wakefield) and Mouna Attarha (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) beating singles opponents today that they lost to in the earlier match, head coach Sally Baum's squad wouldn't have registered a 5-4 victory over the second-seeded Eagles (13-6) today and wouldn't be headed to Saturday's championship match against Moravian.

Moravian Earns The Chance To Defend Women's Tennis Crown
Top seeded Moravian women's tennis team advanced to the 2009 Landmark Conference Championship match with an 8-1 victory over fourth seed The University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference Semifinal at Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds, who are the defending Landmark Conference Champion, will face third seed Goucher College, which upset second seed Juniata College, 5-4, in Wednesdays other semifinal.

Landmark Spring Sports Championships Kick Off On Tuesday
The Landmark Conference will conclude its second season of competition as conference postseason championships begin with semifinal action starting on Tuesday April 28 and Wednesday April 29. Postseason play will continue May 1 with championships being held on May 2 and May 3.

Rangers Cruise Past Yeshiva
Drew womens tennis swept to a 9-0 win over Yeshiva in a rare night match played at Drew Tennis Center. The Rangers did not drop a set in the match as they improved to 5-12 on the season. The match serves as a warm-up to the Rangers match with Scranton on Saturday that will decide Drews playoff fate.

Juniata Women's Tennis Claims Record-Setting Win
The Juniata College women's tennis team made some history with its 8-1 win over Landmark Conference-rival Catholic University, Monday afternoon on the Raffensperger Tennis Courts. The win improved Juniata's overall record this season to 11-4, setting a new program record for dual wins in a single season. The 2008-09 squad's 11 wins eclipses the previous mark set by the 1988 team's 10-3 record.

Preseason Women's Tennis Poll Favors Moravian
After claiming the first Landmark Conference Womens Tennis Championship in 2008 the Moravian College womens tennis team has been selected as the favorite to win the title again in 2009 according to the Landmark Conference Preseason Womens Tennis Poll. The head womens tennis coaches and sports information directors at each institution that sponsors the sport were polled for the preseason ballot.
