Cardinals Get Past Goucher In Conference Action
WASHINGTON – CUA improved to 2-2 in the Landmark Conference with a 6-3 win over Goucher on Wednesday afternoon. The Cardinals received singles wins from Margie Selinger, Elaina Sceusa, Caitlin Porter and Isabel Tanco, while Selinger and Sceusa and Ritamarie Holden and Porter picked up doubles points.
Selinger earned a 6-0, 6-3 win over Meaghan Lee at first singles, while Holden fell to Ariel Lin 6-1, 6-1 at the second flight.
Sceusa emerged victorious with a 7-5, 6-4 win at third singles and Porter downed Alexandra Walsh 6-2, 6-1 at the fourth flight.
Tanco then earned a 7-5, 6-3 win over Addie Maxwell at fifth singles, while Goucher's Vickey Casey picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win over Rosemary Montani at the sixth flight.
Mara Bergman and Lin won the first doubles point 8-2 over Andie Ingram and Tanco, but CUA won the next two to seal the match.
Selinger and Sceusa picked up an 8-2 win at the second flight and Holden and Porter defeated Maxwell and Casey 8-5 at the third flight.
On Saturday, CUA will head to New Jersey to face Drew in a 1 p.m. match.
