BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The top seeded Moravian College women's tennis team won its program-best 18th match of the season with a 5-1 victory over fourth seed Goucher College in the Landmark Conference Semifinals Wednesday in a match moved indoors to Lehigh University's Lewis Tennis Center due to threatening weather throughout the day.

The Greyhounds, now 18-1 overall with their 13th consecutive win, surpassed the 1999 squad that was 17-1, and now head to the Landmark Conference Championship match on Saturday, May 4 where the squad will be looking for the program's fourth Landmark Conference title and 12th overall conference championship.

The Hounds took a 2-1 lead over the Gophers in doubles action. Sophomores Brooke Adams and Kristen Cassidy opened the contest with an 8-3 victory at third doubles. Goucher earned an 8-6 win at first doubles to even the score before the tandem of junior Lauren Steinert and sophomore Mary Angle needed a tiebreaker to capture their second doubles match by a score of 8-7 (7-1).

The squads would put the top four singles contests out on the four courts in the Lewis Tennis Center. Angle was the first to finish with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at third singles to push Moravian's lead to 3-1. Junior Eiman Nazif recorded a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at second singles to make it a 4-1 match, and a minute later Steinert posted a 6-4, 6-3 win at fourth singles to clinch the victory.

In the postseason, contests end as soon as the winning team point is recorded, and that meant sophomore Emma Angle had her first singles contest end with her down match point in the second set while Adams was only in the first game of her opening set at fifth singles and Cassidy never made it onto the court to begin her match at sixth singles.

The Greyhounds will return to action when they host second seed The University of Scranton on Saturday, May 4 in the 2019 Landmark Conference Championship match beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Hoffman Courts in Bethlehem. In case of inclement weather, the contest will be moved to the Lewis Tennis Center at Lehigh University with the same starting time. The winner of Saturday's match will receive the Landmark Conference's automatic berth to the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
