Four Landmark Volleyball Players Earn All-Region Nods

Four Landmark Volleyball Players Earn All-Region Nods

MADISON, N.J. - The Landmark Conference was represented with four of the 14 selections to the 2011 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team released today.

Juniata College and Moravian College both earned two spots on the 14-player All-Region Team. Juniata's Libby Morrison earned her second All-Region honor and was joined by teammate Courtney Greenberg, while Moravian juniors Samantha Savite and Jesse Krasley both earned their first All-Region honors.

All four players will be considered for AVCA All-America honors, which will be announced at the NCAA national championship banquet in St. Louis, Mo.

Greenberg logged 1052 assists this season, an average of 10.52 per set, while serving up 31 aces. She also turned up 261 digs, 2.51 per set, on her way to First team All-Landmark Conference honors.

Morrison, who earned Capital One Academic All-District honors earlier on Thursday, earns AVCA All-Region honors for the second consecutive season. A libero, Morrison currently averages 6.07 digs per set, with 631 total digs this season for the Eagles. She has also served up 34 aces, one off the team lead. Earlier this week, Morrison earned Landmark Conference Player of the Year and Specialist of the Year honors for the second consecutive year, and was a First team All-Landmark selection. Morrison currently has 1,322 digs in her two seasons at Juniata since transferring from Santa Clara University, and ranks eighth among the program's all-time career digs leaders.

Krasley has had a record-breaking season, breaking three records in digs thus far. Most recently she became the school's career dig leader at 1,719. Earlier this fall she set the single season record, currently at 774, and she broke the single game record for digs in a five-set match at 54. She also holds the three-set and four-set match records as well. Krasley leads the team in service aces with 46 and is second in assists with 116.

Savite is leading the Greyhounds in kills with 343 this fall. She is second on the team in blocks with 61 and has 50 digs. Savite is currently eighth all-time in blocks with 180.

Both teams are in the midst of postseason play. Juniata begins NCAA Regional play on Friday with a first-round match against Cabrini in a regional at Neumann College. Moravian won its ECAC South Championship opening match Wednesday night, and will competition on Saturday with a semifinal match against St. Vincent at Bethany College.
