Juniata Volleyball Ranked No. 14 in AVCA Preseason Poll

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College women's volleyball team will begin the 2014 season ranked No. 14 according to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), after the organization released its preseason poll Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles finished the 2013 season with a 31-5 overall record and won their seventh consecutive Landmark Conference title. Fresh off their 33rd straight NCAA Division III tournament appearance, the Eagles received 746 votes in the AVCA poll. The ranking mirrors Juniata's position in the final poll of the 2013 season.

Last years national champion, Calvin, starts the season No. 1 after receiving 56 of the 60 first place votes. National runner-up Emory starts the 20154 season No. 2 with Wisconsin-Stevens Point coming in third. Hope and St. Thomas (MN) round out the top five.

Juniata opens the 2014 campaign at the Cortland Invitational August 29-30. The Eagles will be on the road for the first three weeks of the season before opening their home campaign Sept. 19 with the ASICS Invitational.
