June 18, 2009Drew Names New Cross Country Coach
Bob Koppenol, an avid runner and ranked triathlete in New Jersey, has been named Head Mens and Womens Cross Country Coach at Drew, announced Director of Athletics, Jason Fein, on Wednesday. Koppenol brings a unique background to the position, having served in the financial sector for much of his career before opening Starting Line Sports retailer in downtown Madison.

Landmark Honors Six Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has chosen six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective fall sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities.

Susquehanna Leads President's All-Sports Cup Standings After Fall Season
On the strength of claiming three Landmark Conference Championships during the fall, Susquehanna University sits atop the Landmark Presidents All-Sports Cup standings after the completion of the fall sports season. With six of the Landmarks 20 sports having finished their seasons, Susquehanna is atop the standings with a score of 7.67. Juniata College, who was in first place in the fall of the 2007 season sits in second place with 7.00 points. The University of Scranton and The Catholic University of America round out the top half of the standings with 6.08 and 5.92 points respectively.

Thirty-Two Student-Athletes Named To Fall All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2008 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark fall sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Landmark Announces Fall Academic Honor Roll
The Landmark Conference has recognized 354 student-athletes by selecting them for the 2008 Fall Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions.

Wasnetsky Leads Way For Landmark Runners At NCAA
Sophomore Chris Wasnetsky (Dunmore, Pa./Bishop OHara) turned in the best performance of his career at the 2008 NCAA Division III mens cross-country championships Saturday morning. Wasnetsky covered the 8000-meter course in a personal-best time of 25:36.31 to finish 96th in a field of 278 runners. In addition Susquehanna's Paul Thistle was 164th at the meet, and Crusader Alycia Woodruff placed 75th in the women's race.

Landmark Sends Three Runners To NCAA Championships
Three Landmark Conference student-athletes will be competing at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships held Saturday Nov. 22 in Hanover, Ind. The meet will be hosted by Hanover College.

Landmark Sending Two Men To NCAA Cross Country Championships
Junior Paul Thistle (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) placed 11th out of 306 runners to lead the Susquehanna University mens cross country team to a 12th place finish of the 43 teams competing at the NCAA Mideast Region mens cross country championships hosted by Waynesburg University at Greene County Airport on Nov. 15. University of Scranton sophomore Chris Wasnetsky also qualified for the NCAA meet by finishing 13th at the meet.

Cross Country Teams Set To Compete For Conference Titles
The Landmark Conferences championship season will officially kick off on Saturday Nov. 1 when the 2008 Landmark Cross Country Championships will be held at the Fort Roberdeau Historic Site in Altoona, Pa. Juniata College will serve as the official host of the meet in which mens and womens team champions will be crowned, along with individual champions in both the mens and womens races.

Thistle Captures Invitational Title For Crusaders
Susquehanna Universitys junior Paul Thistle (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) finished first out of 270 runners at the Gettysburg College Invitational, held on a 8,000-meter course on Oct. 18. Thistle beat the second-place finisher by over seven seconds with his 25-minute, 33.06-second performance to help Susquehanna finish eighth amongst 19 teams.

Wasnetsky Earns Another Win For Scranton Cross Country
Sophomore runner Chris Wasnetsky (Dunmore, Pa./Bishop OHara) cruised to another individual title Saturday morning at the DeSales Invitational. Wasnetsky won his fourth straight individual title of the season by covering the 8000-meter course in 26:37.58, finishing 21 seconds ahead of runner-up Zack Dickerson of Salisbury University. Team-wise, the Royal men placed third in the 20-team field with 108 points.

Woodruff Leads Crusaders To Eagle Invite Victory
Susquehanna Universitys sophomore Alycia Woodruff (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) finished first out of 82 runners at the Juniata College Eagle Invitational, held on a 5,000-meter course at Fort Roberdeau on Oct. 11. Woodruff won the invitational in a 19-minute, 16.50-second finish, while the Susquehanna womens cross country team finished first amongst nine teams.

Negreann Runs Well At Goucher Classic
Goucher's Joe Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) placed 10th among runners from competing institutions and 14th overall today at the only race that will be run on the Goucher campus this season.

The Susquehanna University mens cross country has been established as the favorite to claim the second Landmark Mens Cross Country Championship as selected in the Landmark Mens Cross Country Preseason Poll. Juniata Is Tops In Women's Cross Country Poll
After claiming the inaugural Landmark Womens Cross Country Championship in 2007, the Juniata College womens cross country team has been picked as the favorite to repeat as selected in the Landmark Womens Cross Country Preseason Poll. The womens cross country coaches and sports information directors at each institution that sponsors the sport were polled for the preseason ballot.
