Junior shortstop Dante Pozzi was a mainstay for Catholic during the opening weekend of the season as the Cardinals started 2-1 with victories over Western New England and Stockton. Pozzi hit .400, reaching base in 50 percent of his plate appearances. Pozzi homered and drove in four runs while totaling five hits and reaching base seven times. Pozzi reached base three times in a loss to #19 Salve Regina on Friday before adding a hit and two RBI vs. Western New England on Saturday. On Sunday, Pozzi hit his first homer of the season and drove in two more runs for the Cardinals in a 12-5 win over the Ospreys.
