MADISON, N.J. – After a highly-competitive second season of competition 12 student-athletes have been selected to the 2008-09 All-Landmark Conference Women’s Basketball Team as voted by the conference’s eight head coaches. The team consists of a first and second team, with six players on each team, and the selections made by position. The voting for the All-Conference Team took place after the conclusion of the regular season and prior to the start of the Landmark postseason.

Five of the eight Landmark teams were represented by a pair of players, while seven of the eight conference teams had at least one representative. Juniata College was the only program with two first-team selections, while The University of Scranton, Moravian College, Susquehanna University, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy all had two honorees. A Scranton performer earned Player of the Year honors for the second time in as many years as sophomore Megan Kopecki received that honor after being chosen as Rookie of the Year last season. Juniata’s Claudia McDowell was picked as the Defensive Player of the Year in her senior campaign. Susquehanna freshman Libby Shober earned Rookie of the Year laurels and the Susquehanna coaching staff led by Head Coach Jim Reed was picked as the Coaching Staff of the Year.

For the second-team in as many years the All-Conference team was balanced among the classes as four seniors, five juniors, a pair of sophomores and one freshman were honored. Seven of the 12 selections are repeat honorees including Kopecki, McDowell and Juniata’s Kelly Ashcraft who all earned first-team selections for the second time. Catholic’s Brianna Peterson, Moravian’s Kate Harrison and Alyssa Bisci along with Susquehanna’s Rachael Hughes all captured All-Conference honors for the second time.
