Landmark Releases Women's Basketball All-Conference Team
MADISON, N.J. – Following another strong season of
competition 12 student-athletes have been selected to the 2010-11
All-Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Team as voted by the
conference's eight head coaches. The team consists of a first and
second team, with six players on each team, and the selections made
by position. The voting for the All-Conference Team took place
after the conclusion of the regular season and prior to the start
of the Landmark postseason.
Juniata College led all teams with three All-Conference
selections after the team finished atop the regular-season
standings for the first time. The Eagles also captured several
larger honors with Jen Hnatuck part of a remarkable three-way tie
for Player of the Year honors with The University of Scranton's
Megan Kopecki and Moravian College's Amy Heffner. It was Kopecki's
third-straight Player of the Year selection. Juniata freshman Kate
McDonald was tabbed the Rookie of the Year while Juniata Head Coach
Danny Young-Uhrich and her staff were voted the Coaching Staff of
the Year. Moravian's Alexandra Blair (Hellertown, Pa./Bethlehem
Catholic) earned the honors as the Landmark Defensive Player of the
Year.
The team was dominated by seniors with seven of the 12 spots
taken by seniors, including all but one of the first-team
selections. Hnatuck and Kopecki also become the first four-time
All-Conference players in Landmark women's basketball history,
while Danielle Barber of Drew University, Rebecca Grimes of the
United States Merchant Marine Academy and Juniata's Ashton Bankos
all earned All-Landmark selection for the second time.
