Women's Soccer All-Conference Selections Announced

TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference women's soccer coaches voted and named freshman forward Emma Campbell of Drew University and sophomore forward Kirsten Schall of Moravian College, Co-Offensive Players of the Year. Campbell was also selected as Rookie of the Year while the Defensive Player of the Year is Moravian senior defender Eileen Black.

In just her first collegiate season, Campbell led the league in goals with 15 and points with 34 during the regular season. Additionally she finished with five goals and 11 points in Landmark action to pace the seven teams. In 2011, Schall was a Second Team All-Conference selection. This year, Schall leads the Greyhounds with eight goals and seven assists for 23 points. She is tied for fourth in the conference in goals and tied for the league-high in assists. Both players helped boost their teams to the Landmark Tournament where they battled to a scoreless tie in the semifinals. Schall and Moravian advanced to the championship on penalty kicks where Scranton edged the Greyhounds 2-0.

In addition to her Defensive Player of the Year honors, Black is a four-time All-Conference selection. She anchored Moravian's back line this season and served as an offensive threat at the other end tallying three goals including two game-winners. The Moravian defense posted seven shutouts this season thanks in part to Black's leadership on defense.

Campbell, Schall and Black were three of the 12 players selected to the Landmark All-Conference First Team. Joining Campbell and Schall at forward is Scranton junior Samantha Russo. Russo is a three-time First Team honoree and finished the regular season with four goals, three of which were in conference play.

Catholic senior midfielder Mary McGann and Goucher sophomore midfielder Lindsey Puopolo were recognized as All-Conference selections for the first time. McGann had a breakout year in terms of point production with two goals and six assists. Puopolo racked up eight goals and four assists for the Gophers. Scranton senior Sydney Parker notched her third career All-Conference honor after serving as a strong defensive center midfielder for the Royals. Katie O'Keefe repeats as a First Team selection with seven goals and five assists in her junior season at Drew.

Scranton senior captain Jessica Sciscione is considered the backbone of the Royals defense that did not allow a goal in Landmark play this season. Sciscione is a three-time First Team selection. Catholic sophomore Tricia Colucci has earned All-Conference honors for the first time as a consistent defender on the Cardinals backline.

Two goalkeepers earned First Team recognition this season. Scranton junior Kelsy McAnelly led all goalkeepers with 10 shutouts during the regular season including all six Landmark games, before posting two more in the conference tournament. She also boasts a 0.89 goals against average. Catholic freshman Lexi Halperin has also been recognized with a 1.27 regular season goals against average and 0.792 save percentage.

For the first time in her career, Moravian head coach Brienne Smith and her staff were voted Coaching Staff of the Year. A year ago the Greyhounds finished fourth in the Landmark with a 2-3-1 record, but added two conference wins this season and wrapped up with a 4-2 Landmark record. Overall, Smith has led Moravian to four additional wins in 2012 heading into the ECAC Tournament later this week.

Catholic, Drew and Scranton each placed five players on both All-Conference teams. Moravian and Goucher had three honorees while Juniata had two and Susquehanna one.
