Hadley Couraud Named Landmark Senior Scholar Athlete
TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark
Conference has chosen six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar
Athletes for their respective fall sports. A committee of Landmark
Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information
directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of
the fall sports sponsored by the conference.
The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected
based on their accomplishments in athletics and academics. The
conference office will announce the six honorees over the next two
weeks.
Goucher College’s Hadley Couraud has been named the
Women’s Cross Country Senior Scholar Athlete. Couraud is a
three-time All-Landmark honoree. As a freshman, Couraud placed 11th
at the Landmark Championships before going on to finish the NCAA
Division III Mideast Regional race in 23:31.2, the 10th fastest
6-kilometer time in Goucher history. She followed up with a 13th
place finish at the conference championships in 2010 and a 12th
place finish in 2011 before battling injuries to finish 56th last
month.
A two-time team captain, Couraud helped the team to a runner-up
finish at the Landmark Championships last season. When not
competing for the cross country team, Couraud has also excelled in
the classroom. She boasts a 3.77 cumulative grade point average
while majoring in biology with a minor in peace studies.
Originally from East Lansing, Mich., Couraud has racked up numerous
accolades during her time at Goucher. She is a three-time selection
to the Landmark Honor Roll while earning Dean’s List
recognition every semester. She is a recipient of the Marquez Prize
for work on environmental issues at Goucher and the Renie Amoss
Memorial Prize. She has served as president of Earthworks,
Goucher’s environmental club, and was a representative on the
Goucher Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee. She is
currently serving on the Goucher Leadership Council.
