Coaches Select Women's Basketball All-Conference Team
MADISON, N.J. – Twelve Landmark women's basketball
performers have been honored for their play this season with
selection to the 2011-12 All-Landmark Conference Women's Basketball
Team as voted by the conference's eight head coaches. The team
consists of a first and second team, with six players on each team,
and the selections made by position. The voting for the
All-Conference Team took place after the conclusion of the regular
season and prior to the start of the Landmark postseason.
The top three teams in the Landmark final standings--Juniata
College, The University of Scranton and The Catholic University of
America--all placed three players on the All-Conference team,
accounting for nine of the 12 selections. Juniata which completed
an unbeaten conference regular season had three choices and also
took home other significant honors as senior Ashton Bankos was
voted Player of the Year, Kate McDonald earned Defensive Player of
the Year honors and the team's coaching staff led by Head Coach
Danny Young-Uhrich was picked as Coaching Staff of the Year for the
second-straight season. Moravian College's Alexis Wright
(Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) was the other award recipient
as she was voted Rookie of the Year.
Four of the 12 selections returned from last year's
All-Conference team, while Bankos and Drew University's Danielle
Barber each claimed their third All-Conference selection. Jill
Woerner of Catholic and Juniata's McDonald were the other two
repeat honorees. Four seniors earned selection in their final year
of play with the rest of the team consisting of five juniors and
three sophomores.
