Rachel Berry Named Landmark Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has chosen six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective winter sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the winter sports sponsored by the conference.

The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in athletics and academics. The conference office will announce the six honorees over the next two weeks.

Catholic University's Rachel Berry has been named the Women's Swimming & Diving Senior Scholar Athlete. Berry capped off her career by earning All-Landmark honors last month for the first time in her career. The senior placed first in the 100 butterfly and second in the 200 butterfly at the 2013 Landmark Championships.

Over the last four years, Berry has helped the Cardinals place in the top four of the Landmark Championships every year. As a sophomore, she contributed to a school record time in the 400 medley relay while placing third at the conference meet. Berry reached the podium (top-6) five times prior to earning All-Landmark recognition this year.

Originally from Pasadena, Md., Berry is a civil engineering major with a minor in theology. She boasts a 3.24 cumulative grade point average and has been recognized on the Landmark Honor Roll all three years she has been eligible. This past year, Berry was also named to the Landmark Conference All-Academic Team.
