Travis King Named Landmark Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has chosen six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective winter sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the winter sports sponsored by the conference.

The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in athletics and academics. The conference office will announce the six honorees over the next two weeks.

Moravian College's Travis King has been named the Men's Indoor Track & Field Senior Scholar Athlete. King finished in the top six eight times during his indoor track career despite missing the Landmark Championship meet as a sophomore with an injury. He won the triple jump as a freshman and finished runner-up his last two years.

At the 2013 championship, King was second in the triple jump and the 4x200 meter relay while placing sixth in the long jump and 60 meters. King helped the team to its fourth consecutive Landmark title. He is a three sport athlete who also played football and is currently competing on the outdoor track and field team.

Originally from Wilmington, Del., King is a business management major. He boasts a 3.48 cumulative grade point average and has been recognized on the Landmark Honor Roll all three years he has been eligible. He was recently named to the Landmark All-Academic Team and has made the Dean's List four semesters. King is also a member of Moravian's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
