Susquehanna Shuts Out Juniata in Landmark Softball Tournament
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The top-seeded Crusaders jumped on top early and never looked back as they cruised to the six-inning 8-0 win over No. 4 Juniata in the first game of the Landmark Conference Tournament.
Alyssa Cantalini hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first to give the Crusaders the early lead. Susquehanna tacked on five runs in the second capped off by a two-RBI double from Cantalini.
The Crusaders finished the win with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Stephanie Chlebove drew a walk and Larissa Luu reached on a fielder's choice to set up a two-RBI single from Brianna Murphy for the win.
Cantalini finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and Bridget Rafter was 2-for-2.
Morgan Lewis pitched the complete game for the Crusaders allowing just two hits with four strikeouts for the shutout.
Kelsea Decker took the loss with 2.2 innings of work. Aly Smith finished in the circle for the Eagles.
Susquehanna advances to face No. 3 Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Juniata will take on No. 2 Moravian on Saturday at 9 a.m.
