Tim McGurrin Selected as Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has chosen eight athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective spring sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the spring sports sponsored by the conference.

The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in athletics and academics. The conference office will announce the eight honorees over the next two weeks.

The University of Scranton's Tim McGurrin has been named the Men's Tennis Senior Scholar Athlete. McGurrin is a three-time First Team All-Landmark selection. He competed in four straight Landmark championship matches where the Royals finished as runner-up. Over the course of his career, McGurrin finished 38-19 in singles (.667) and 42-17 in doubles (.712).

McGurrin successfully balanced academics and athletics while also participating in other Scranton activities. He is a member of the Society of Accounting Students, Business Club, Entrepreneurship Club as well as the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).

Originally from Clarks Summit, Pa., McGurrin earned his bachelor's degree in accounting in three years before returning to pursue a master's in business administration while wrapping up his tennis career this season. He earned a 4.0 undergraduate cumulative grade point average and boasts a 3.76 in the MBA program. McGurrin has been recognized on the Landmark Honor Roll all three years he has been eligible and is a two-time Landmark All-Academic Team selection. Most recently he became a two-time CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American honoree.
