Abigail Hess Chosen as Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has chosen eight athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective spring sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the spring sports sponsored by the conference.

The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in athletics and academics. The conference office will announce the eight honorees over the next two weeks.

Susquehanna University's Abigail Hess has been named the Women's Tennis Senior Scholar Athlete. Hess recently earned Second Team All-Landmark honors for singles and doubles this season. She earned All-Landmark honors in doubles for the third time in her career. This season, Hess teamed up with teammate Shelby O'Riley to rack up a 9-5 record at No. 1 doubles. During the course of her career, Hess finished 33-22 in singles and 37-19 in doubles.

Originally from Hughesville, Pa., Hess is a creative writing major. She has earned a 3.89 cumulative grade point average and been recognized on the Landmark Honor Roll all three years she has been eligible. A member of the Dean's List, Hess also serves on the executive board of the Susquehanna SLAM poetry club.
